| New Model Army – Marrakesh Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I just discovered this wonderful song and it is so immersive. I cannot stop listening and thinking what the song is about. Does anyone have an idea? I just understand that a couple gets seperated and doesnt meet again after being handcuffed inside a car. I guess they get arrested for something. I'll just quote the parts I don't exactly understand: "They found us in the courtyard at our table in the shade We toasted our last few moments and then the end came They took us back to the airstrip in that beaten up old car And we rattled across the African scrubland in silence Our hands locked together with cold steel cuffs" Why are they in marrakesh? Why do they get arrested? "My dice still roll in sixes and yours still turn up ones And I have taken my good fortune and I've run and run But I always swore I'd come back for you Is it too late now to come back for you ?" It seems that he is somehow lucky and free now (rollin sixes) and she is not. But why? Hopefully somebody else reads my comment since New Model Army does not seem very popular. Hence there are hardly any comments on any of the band's songs... |

Hey! People keep talking about having seen the clip or the video and saying how it emphasizes the song. It would be great if anyone could tell me what video you are talking about and where I can watch it. Thx! |

I agree with Flammatus in nearly every case. The only that I interpret in a different way are the following lines: "Poets gone wild on the muse Prophets all destroying the Tao," I see the muse as a metaphor for nature because many artists are inspired by nature. Although Poets and Prophets are usually intelligent people most of them fail to recognize a very basic issue of our world: The importance of a nature(= muse; tao) in balance. Seems to be very obvious to me. I love this song. Sums up my view on mankind. |

| And furthermore I don't hear "Intention".. There simply is no 'n' at the end... He speaks the 't' very hard and there are two "hard sounds".. One could be the d from 'intend" and the other one could be the t from 'to'.. I'm not sure about this but there are two sounds which could be Ds or Ts but it's not what the lyrics posted here say.... | |

This line is very hard to understand and I've also seen lyrics with completely different words.. One version says: "Lose control At increasing pace Warped and bewitched And time to erase" But my interpretation of what Matt sings is very close to your idea although I never really figured out what he says cause it's so damn hard to understand.. As often as I listen to the line I am somehow unable to find the word "Wantonly". There comes a word with an 's' at the end after the first word which is prolly 'want' 'or what'... I simply gonna pretend that your idea is right cause it's close to mine :-P |

Wow I failed. What about telling me why? How am I supposed to learn from you if you just tell me I'm wrong. Maybe you can convince me that I'm wrong. With that post you didn't.. |

| I think there is nothing to add besides that this song is definitely not easy to understand as so many "this song is about the superiority of faith"-people suggested ;) | |

90% of you take the song too literally. First of all consider that Matthew Bellamy is an Atheist -> This song can't be an anti-atheists one. It goes much deeper if you take the lyrics metaphorically e.g. Why do people believe in god or higher beings? The case of an atheist dying is just meant metaphorically, this song isn't simply about somebody dying and seeing he was wrong IMO. There is a human being that does not believe in god. Now why does he start believing? Because of fear (of death in this case), desperation or whatever you might call it. -> People believe because they are afraid of reality: "Omg, nothing's gonna happen when I die besides the biological decay of my body. I don't wanna stop to exist" In order to cope with that they just invent something supernatural.. So they just go on living their average lives because there is nothing to care about in terms of death. In addition to that I gonna post an extract from an interview which shows what bellamy thinks: "Being an atheist means you have to realise that when you die, that really is it. You've got to make the most of what you've got here and spread as much influence as you can[...]" |

nothing to add. Definitely a song about massmedia which is presented as a manipulating person in this song (-->You). If the song didn't have the name "On In Five" it coull also be about manipulation itself but i thing the name indicates that it is about media. btw the hidden song rocks!! |

| Type O Negative – I Like Goils Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I don't know if it's natural but i just know that a friend owned 2 rabbits who used to fuck each other.. and yes.. they were male rabbits ;). Maybe they just were desperate and maybe all gay ppl are just desperate? i don't know. but i don't see a problem with gay ppl as long as they don't force me to have sex with them or to watch them having sex ;) | |
| Type O Negative – Christian Woman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about christianity objectifying morality by using the example of forbidding masturbation.. | |
| System of a Down – Science (feat. Arto Tunçboyacıyan) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

oh i got s.th to add: Stop arguing and stop fighting. Stop telling others that their must be a god or that this god is absolute bullshit. It is absolutely unimportant what you believe in and what the others believe in as long as you don't use your belief as a justification for your actions because this is like judging somebody in front of a court which simply does not exist for him. For example i do not understand why i should adopt the morality which is taught in the bible because i simply do not see any reason why i should. To me it is just a book, a very philosophical book at least, but i don't see any reason to believe in it besides religious institutions telling us. So you can't tell me that i am acting wrong cause the bible says so. As you see i think that believe is something very personal and that nobody should try to to convert somebody else. But i see hate towards any other kind in many of you. |

First of all there are many ignorant people commenting this song. I don't aim my critics at a special group like believers or non-believers. Second of all: This song is not about religion, it is about faith. To those who think that this song says that believing in god is better than science, leave out your theories about god (in most cases a christian god) or any theories which are accepted by the majority of people. To those who think that faith only creates problems and ignorance: You are mixing something up. It is true that a religion based upon the faith of many people is often used to manipulate, to control people and to make them think like their religious leaders do. And soad criticizes this in some of their songs (e.g war? "For you must enter a room to destroy it, International security, Call of the righteous man, Needs a reason to kill man, History teaches us so, The reason he must attain, Must be approved by his God, His child, partisan brother of war,") but this song is not about christianity, jewry or any religious institution. This is a song about personal faith and believing in something respectively. About my person: I don't believe in god, the creation etc. but i do believe (or don't i? i can't define the feelings i have) But i do not think that science should be put above all as well because both of it has his positive and negative sides. Science and believe can help and make you ignorant too. This leads to an attitude which rejects any foreign kind of world-view. That can obviously be seen in many statements made about this song. What i just want to say is that we neither need fait nor science to make this world better but tolerance. |
