No no no, amymsmyth, come on, think for a minute will you? Ariadne is the Greek version, Arianne is the modern French/English translation, and is if my memory serves, a name the French had given the rockets they shoot up into space, like our Atlas, but I digress. I agree with Lionkey's original assumption about the reference to Greek Mythology, but that's where it ends. Plant is calling to himself, the "Percey" of the early days, to relate what is really important to him, to keep him going after his son Karac,named after Caractacus, died. The references to Aryan are just silly in my mind, with jackbooted masturbators out there trying to espouse white power, as if there really is such a thing. This is a great song and has always been one of my favorite Zep tunes. |
