I agree with much of the previous. He finds the world to be a wonderful place as a child, but then he is sent to school, where such a beautiful mind is quickly destroyed. He goes on to be just another, having had all individuality crushed out of him. I love the phrase: "Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical, liberal, fanatical, criminal." I believe it refers to the fact that our mechanized society rewards the hard worker, the straight A student, the one who doesn't think about what they're told and just does it. Not the one who asks, "Why I should do it?" (Often been me.) Overall, this is a very catchy song that just seems to describe life. I heard it for the first time in some three or four years, before which I had only faintly heard it, bu I felt like a new the lyrics. How odd. |
