I agree with Jimmyropes. Also, "Love Buzz" was a bit of an in-joke with Nirvana and their friends The Melvins. Kurt idolised his friend Buzz Osborne from The Melvins, and would joke around and say the only reason he decided to cover that song was just so he could sing/ ask "Can YOU feel my love, BUZZ?". Kurt was funny as shit and had a great personality, he really did. WONDERFUL SONG! Nirvana had a knack for owning cover versions and doing a better job than the originals, which is very rare. I even prefer Nirvana's live version of Man Who Sold The World more than Bowie's original. |

| Also, has anyone noticed during the very end when he's saying "I think I'm dumb" over and over, towards the end he actually starts to say "I think I'm DONE". So sad. | |
| Nirvana – Dumb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| According to Cobain, "Dumb" was inspired by the envy he feels for unintelligent and "easily amused" people, who are seemingly able to move through life without ever feeling sad or depressed. "I've met a lot of dumb people," Cobain said in an interview with Melody Maker in 1993, "they have a shitty job, they may be totally lonely...and yet, for some reason, they're happy." | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Warrior Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| she's always on tour. and so is her boyfriend, angus andrew, from the band liars. i think that's what this song is about. always being away, traveling everywhere. it's harder cos she's a girl, surrounded by men, so she thinks of herself as a "warrior" to help her get the confidence to survive the harsh realities of the road and being on tour. "the strangers have caught on and they're riding in the back seat" represents her fans and the fact that while on tour she's surrounded by strangers, hanger-ons and people who don't know her very well, and all she can think of his how much she misses her home and all the simple things which she wanted to escape from originally. it's a lonely song about wanting what you can't have and how being a musician in a popular band doesn't grant you instant happiness. | |
| Hole – The Void Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yeah, it's a cover of the Scottish post-punks, The Raincoats, who were Kurt Cobain's favoutite band. The original is far better.............I've just spent 5 minutes reading Hole's lyrics and I can't believe how horrendous and badly written they are. It's like reading an angry 13 year old goth's diary or something. So cheesy. Courtney Love will never be remembered as a musician......she'll only ever be remembered for the controversy, the antics, and for cashing in on Kurt. She's a conniving business women/liar, that's all. If you want real music listen to Bikini Kill or Nirvana. | |

Two words. TOBI VAIL. If you watch Nirvana perform this song on youTube, during a performance in Hollywood in 1993, at the very end of the song Kurt starts yelling "Tobi! Tobi! Tobi! Tobi!" at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=318TJwKpMlY |

^ have YOU read the journals? it was a fictional, MADE-UP story. just like the journal entry about chuck taylor. anyone who doesn't understand that it was one of kurt's many creative writings when they read the journals is rather stupid. p.s: i wouldn't believe any of the books written about kurt or nirvana. most of them are fucking lies, especially the book Heavier Than Heaven. |

P.S: Kurt first tried heroin with a friend in Olympia, in the late '80's. This was when he was dating Tobi. Tobi is from Olympia. Maybe they both tried heroin together. That would explain the "she keeps it pumpin' straight to my heart" line. |

Yeah I agree, this is definitely about Miss. Tobi Vail from Bikini Kill. I think Kurt, being the genius that he was, wrote it with the intentional and obvious references to drugs - only to get the point across that his love for Tobi gave him the same side effects that drugs did. High, addicted, withdrawal symptoms when he missed her, etc. Tobi is a massive fan of '60's music so the "do the twist" is obviously a reference to that. You know, the dance the kids in the '60's would do. Twist and shout, etc. And yeah, "shoot the shit" means to talk about nothing important. It's like, when you're in love you don't care where you go with a person or what you do - you just wanna be with them. He's basically saying,"it's Saturday night and all I wanna do is sit on the sofa and just shoot the shit with you all night and listen to you talk about nothing at all and I'd be happy." This is a brilliant, intense love song. Kurt obviously loved this girl very much. |

PS; As for the rape-thing, that is just what mis-informed, untalented, wanna-be musicians say who are jealous of Kurt and his success. If you read his journals, it was a FICTIONAL and sarcastic story he wrote. You can also read the FICTIONAL and sarcastic stories he wrote about Chuck Taylor and many others. Grab a dictionary and look up "fic-tio-nal" or "fic-tion". |

There's no doubt it's about his ex-girlfriend, Bikini Kill's Tobi Vail. If you watch Nirvana perform this song on youTube, during a performance in Hollywood in 1993, at the very end of the song Kurt starts yelling "Tobi! Tobi! Tobi! Tobi!" at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=318TJwKpMlY Kurt dated Bikini Kill drummer Tobi Vail from July to October, 1990. Her band opened for several Nirvana shows and Kurt and Tobi collaborated together and recorded songs as "The Go Team". Nirvana songs written about Tobi Vail include "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Drain You", "Lounge Act" ... in fact, most of the album Nevermind was written about her and was recorded during their break-up. |

I never think of Courtney Love when I listen to Nirvana. I think the only record Kurt wrote about her was in Nirvana's final studio album, "In Utero". Kurt's first serious girlfriend Tracey Marander was the inspiration behind Bleach's "About a Girl". A lot of Nevermind's songs were written about Bikini Kill's drummer Tobi Vail, such as "Drain You", "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Lounge Act". The record was also recorded soon after they broke up. He first met Courtney Love in around '89 and said they "bonded over pharmaceuticals" but they did not start dating until during the Nevermind tour in '91. Only Kurt knows what any of his songs are about. Personally, I think this song is about heroin and it probably was - but the genius of Kurt's writing skills allows it to be relatable to anyone who has ever been in a relationship/ in love. Kurt refers to heroin as his "heroine" in his journals, so I think "Aneurysm" is about his love of the drug and his intense relationship with it. He's basically saying it gives him the same feeling as being totally in love with someone...the high you get from the experience, etc. |
