Iced Earth – Ghost Of Freedom Lyrics | 14 years ago |
If I remember correctly, the reason why this is on Horror Show is because there was an actual Ghost Story that was told around the Revolutionary War about a dead War hero who helps and protects all the soldiers fighting in the war. They thought it was this one guys father because the son kept coming out alive in situations where he should have died. I could be wrong though, I'm going based off of memory. |
Iced Earth – Disciples Of The Lie Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Jon was not molested by a priest, but in the booklet of I think its the Blessed and the Damned CD, he explains why he has such hatred for organized religion. He went to an all Lutheran boys school where he and his friends were constantly beaten (not molested) by their priest and teachers. They taught them that fear is the way to God and Jon rejected this and became, in his own words, "a full blown Satanist by the 8th grade" and then realized how stupid that was and became simply a deist. So no, according to Jon he was not molested, but he did say something in the booklet about how his friends had a much worse fate then he did in that school. So maybe his friends were molested. Either way, awesome song. |
Iced Earth – Crucify The King Lyrics | 15 years ago |
You guys remember The Prophecy off of Something Wicked? The line "Assassins we will be through human history, Jesus Christ to Kennedy, the Domino Decree"? This is related to that. Its about them purposefully killing Jesus Christ in an attempt to Separate the Christians from the Jews. You can tell this from the line "Your Death with Polarize, Resurrection will divide". And then followed by "As your worlds collide, you will bring the suffering". When Christians and Jews are forced to live together, they will certainly war over their beliefs. Its an attempt to weaken man by pitting themselves against, well themselves. |
Pantera – Hollow Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Metallica's One was a concept taken from the book Johnny Got his Gun. About a WW1 soldier who was hit with a landmine and had his arms, legs, and face blown off. He couldn't hear and he couldn't see. He was very much a live and conscious with full movement of his stumps. It was about being trapped inside your own mind. Not knowing if your dreaming or awake. These songs may share the most basic concept, but they are VERY much different in every way, shape, and form. In no way was either song influenced by the other. |
Opeth – Forest Of October Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm going with the Damien route as well. I think this is about the anit-christ rising onto earth. "The memories that now rests in this forest Forever shadowing the sunrise of my heart" The "now rests" part makes me think that these memories are now stored there. And he must roam through this forest while these memories keep him from happiness. "forever shadowing the sunrise of my heart" "Wings leave their nest at my coming Swaying away unto the cold glowing sky Dreaming away for a while My spirit sighs in peace Gazing unto the stars Please, take me there" Birds flee as he walks by, perhaps sensing his evil. He day dreams of his soul being in peace. Peace his soul has never had, nor ever will. He is forever tormented, like the Devil. "I am so alone, so cold My heart is to scarred to glow I wish the sunrise to come Take my soul (away) From this cold, lonely shell I am free" More description of his pain and torment. His sense of being alone and deserted in this world. Forsaken like Lucifer was by God. He is almost begging for forgiveness. "From the eternal sea I rose Veiled in darkness on either shore Lost my pride, lost its glow For me the sun rose no more" This is why I think its the anti-christ. The first two lines "from the eternal see I rose, Veiled in darkness on either shore" Are very similar to the rising of Damien...the anti-christ. The original line goes "From eternal sea he rises, creating armies on either shore, turning man against his brother, till man exists no more" Its not exactly like it, but its VERY close. So either he is the anti-christ, or he thinks he is. And those past memories are memories of his mortal life. Perhaps as a man in the military, or a hit man, serial killer, or whatever else is surrounded by death and bad things. And because of this, he will never find peace. "For me the sun rose no more" "The forest of October Sleeps silent when I depart The web of time Hides my last trace" I don't know what he is trying to get at here with the Forest. I'm lost there. But the October month, or fall, has something to do with it. Perhaps since October is in the Fall, the season in which everything dies, is why its named this way. A forest of death if you will. Kinda sounds like Hell. He travels through time, as God or any angel/fallen angel can (I think), and his evil doings are hidden in his ability to manipulate time. "My blaze travel the last universe Like the sights of magic Wrapped in aeons My mind is one with my soul I fall alone While leaves fall from the weeping trees" The "blaze" could be the after-math of his wraith. And it travels to the "last universe" Which could essentially be hell. Since hell is suppose to be the farthest place away from God and his love, which is why its such a dark and evil place. Perhaps the bit about falling is in reference to Lucifer's fall from Heaven. So yeah, thats the way I see it. |
Opeth – In Mist She Was Standing Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I kinda pictured it as a man riding to his loved ones Grave site. A place that he frequently visited hence the "passing the lake I know so well" A part of me doesn't want to buy the whole "he had sex with a corpse" thing...but a part of me sees it too. The ghostly apparition in the mist, standing and smiling, implies that whatever it is, its animate. Its not a corpse since it has motion. But, there is also interaction between the two, when he touches her cold flesh. I suppose the ghostly apparition could be interacted with, but a part of me thinks that hes interacting with the corpse, while viewing her animate ghost. Which is really morbid....awesome. This is slightly heightened by the fact that the candle that holds the only light goes out right before any interaction is taken place. So essentially, its easier for me to believe hes banging a corpse since he wouldn't really be able to see. I get the idea that its sex because of the whole "embrace" part. Granted, it could mean hes hugging her, then kisses her. Vs him fucking her. I don't know though. It could go a lot of ways. All I know, is that Opeth fucking rules. I love the fact that their lyrics actually need to be deciphered, other then most other bull shit "musicians" who's lyrics are as uninspiring as their music. Cheers to Opeth, One of the Worlds Last True Musicians" |
