"Shake for me girl, I wanna be your backdoor man." Am I the only one who thinks this is a reference to anal sex? I guess my heads in the gutter! |

I saw an interview where Jon said this was actually written to his bandmates at a point where they were wanting to do some work separately but yet not break up as a band. It sounds like a traditional love song though. Interesting take on things. |

I've been happily married for 30 years but there's been a few times we had to "leave the broken pieces on the floor". LOL!
"It would be so easy to live your life with one foot out the door." "It would be so easy to live your whole damn life just keeping score." This song is clearly the result of someone who's been married or in committed relationship for a long time. A kid couldn't write it, it took real life experience. Way to go guys. Another spectacular song! |

This song is only found on the of Lost Highway Target CD. Don't know why it didn't make it on every CD. Probably just a good business move by Jon. He got me to buy two of the Lost Highway Cd's because I had to have this song when I found out about it. Jon's a master marketer, that's for sure. It's a great song. |

One of my all time favorites! Love the lyrics, love the tune, LOVE Richie's guitar work! I'm not sure of the meaning but I don't think he's talking about a small town. Note the line "that's just one side of the story in the two story town". And, I'd like to know if the words are actually "same old ship" or "same old shit". Personally, I like shit but everytime I see this song in print it contains the word ship. |

Exquisitely beautiful song! Richie rivals Jon in the voice department on this one. What a multi-talented group of guys - that's what truly makes Bon Jovi so special! |

An amazing song! I don't understand why it didn't make one of the regular albums instead of the 100,000 Fans Can't be Wrong boxed set. Jon and/or Richie must have known someone who went through this or lost a loved one themselves because it really captures the horror and sadness of watching someone you love dying in the hospital. Especially the part about the four elevators, one goes to "that" floor. Truly remarkable writing and Jon sings it beautifully. |

This is an extraordinary song. Jon and Richie wrote it for Kurt Cobains daughter right after they heard that he had killed himself. Jon's daughter was about the same age as Kurt's daughter and he was very upset for the little girl. |

Jon has also explained that this song was written for a movie. Unfortunately when he saw the completed movie, he didn't like it so he refused to let the song be used in the movie. I haven't seen the movie but perhaps it was about a stalker . . . |

clydesevens - surely you jest. "Ghosties"? No, you fool, it's "I want to be as close as the Holy Ghost is. It's a Catholic thing. You either get it or you don't.
And the mistress reference is clearly referring to the music business and the touring/concert life. |
