| Bob Marley and the Wailers – No Woman No Cry Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
this song's NOT about the loss of someone, 'no woman no cry' is patwa, it translates to 'don't cry', and he's directing it to a woman. simple! 'chuxen' is right it is about roots, and in true Bob Marley fashion, is very political. also some of these lyrics are wrong. 'SAID, I remember when we used to sit' - for the first line 'as they'd mingle with the good people we'd MEET' - for the fourth 'In this bright future, you CAN'T forget your past' - for the seventh but that's just me being pedantic 'as it was, LOGWOOD burning through the night then we would cook CORNMEAL porridge' - old Jamaican specialty |

so long as we agree Bush was a dumbass couldn't give a shit what else you think - i hope Obama does a better job oh, and just so you know, about 90% of the actual news in America is kept hidden from you American's, eg. the rest of the world knew more about the aftermath of Katrina than Americans did... not good and to answer your question, i'm from England, and no, i don't like our politicians either; don't like politicians. |

| McFly – Ignorance Lyrics | 17 years ago |

right, i've reviewed my past conclusions of this song and decided they were invalid and so done some more digging, these are my findings: this song was written in Dougie's head whilst he was having intercourse, according to him; so, bearing that and everything I know about Dougie, in mind, I'm going to attempt to pick this apart, this is what I make of the lyrics: I'm too far gone It's all over now and you can't bring me down let's see now... he wrote this whilst reaching his climax, an orgasm, a natural high that you feel (if only for a few seconds) you'll never come down from - i think, bearing this in mind, these lines are pretty self explanatory. although i do think that, in a way, he's speaking to his own minds eye when he says, 'you can't bring me down', it think he's speaking to his memories. also, just take into account that hollow/tinny sound when he starts the song, that was quite purposely (in my opinion) placed there. note: this is Dougie at his most open/vulnerable time considering what he's doing, this song is all his fucked up emotions/feelings tipped out for the world to see, and whether he means to or not, he's given us a REAL insight into his mind through this song... Love is won over by ignorance Do not get won over by ignorance hmmm, I don't like delving too deeply into his personal life - i mean, not on a public site - but it's no big secret that Dougie follows the same pattern with his relationships and they always end badly... ahem. now, whilst taking that into account and (erm, well, i guess he's made this public himself) his dad left the family when he was fifteen and that fact affected him really badly. in these line i think he's, in some ways, generalising about love, and in others talking to his dad in person, so-to-say: 'your ignorance lead you to think you were in love, i hope no one else falls into the same trap'. These pills were meant to hurt you For today and evermore i haven't got a bloody clue what this is about, however i can venture a few guesses; pills is usually a metaphor for suicide, but in the way he refers to them as 'these' pills, as in something that's relevant, i think he may be referring to the song itself - his lyrics. at first i thought he was talking to a girl, but now i reckon he's talking to his dad again... on a personal note, i think he needs closure on this shit with his dad, before he can move on. 'this is my last chance to reach you, my suicide; i hope it makes an impact' If fools were meant to fuck you Then why do fools fall in love I've been chewing on this for days trying to decipher it, now finally i think i've come up with a plausible answer. he's already said in the song that he thinks you'd need to be ignorant in order to fall in love, well now he's talking about a fool, or many fools, and i think he's talking to everyone generally, and asking why people allow themselves to fall, not only that, but why do they allow themselves to toy with each other, when it all, inevitably leads to the same disasterous conclusion: love. 'why do people continue to fuck with with each other like this when we know what the effect will be? it's foolish' Has blown up your walls again Your lies are all part of your insolence These pills were meant to hurt you For today and evermore If fools were meant to fuck you Then why do fools fall in love part of me thinks the first line is to do with ejaculation for both men and women, 'blowing out their walls', if you know what i mean... ahem, the lies bit, well, i think that's to do with the words that tend to fall carelessly from peoples lips during such occasions, all the promises and words of tenderness that mean naff all afterwards; i think they're what he's referring to. in these verses i think he's still got his dad in mind, but he's also referring to himself and general society before... chorus, again. In the story I was told Well this was never mentioned I think this refers both to him now, and to his past with his dad; basically, when we're young (though i admit with authors like Jauqelin - sp - Wilson being introduced, the world's changing) we're given this picture of the perfect family... mom, dad and kids, so why hasn't that that happened for him; there's no divorce/break-up's mentioned in this 'perfect' picture. not really that complex. Must've missed a chapter when I was seventeen years old Now there's nothing left but loss I think here, he's referring to himself personally, and no, not just cos a personal pronoun was used, but cos (excluding all juvenile 'schoolyard companion' type girlfriends) he got his first proper girlfriend when he was around 17 i believe, and i think here he's just referring to his own experiences of 'love loss', but starting with that one. An unfortunate consequence And you'll burn in hell when you fall against These pills were meant to hurt you For today and evermore If fools were meant to fuck you Then why do fools fall in love Basically, here he's saying that loss is always an inevitable, though unfortunate, consequence of love, before directing another line to his dad (i think) and saying to him basically, 'it'll hurt you when finally you realise the full impact of what you did', i think, assuming this is correct, it ties in quite nicely with what i said about the chorus before. In the story I was told Well this was never mentioned Must've missed a chapter when I was seventeen years old Now there's nothing left but... They won't let go When you see them coming Please let me know (x4) right, well i've dived into the chorus already so, lets bypass that, now lets dive into, what i think is, the most terrifying part of this song - and that's not cos it's delivered as screamo. before i attack that though, we have to consider who 'they' are, i think it's important to not, as in said at the top, Dougie stated that he wrote this song during intercourse, now i seriously doubt that all these lyrics flocked to him in those brief few minutes of passion, it's not impossible, but i doubt it, but because of the general repetition of this line, i think there's a good possibility that it was. therefore, i have a feeling that 'they' refers to many things, including memories/sexual partners/fans/family/friends - i think at this point he's screaming that he's torn between so many things, so many people... sometimes he doesn't feel like he can cope. and now the terrifying part: he doesn't scream it, he gets Danny to. now, don't be under the false impression that he's not capable, he is more than capable; but then that's so Dougie isn't it, he doesn't vent emotion, he keeps it locked away. I'm too far gone It's all over, and you can't bring me down Don't say you're never gonna bleed me Don't say you're never gonna leave me Down (Love is won over by ignorance) Don't say you really really need me Don't say you're never gonna leave me Down (Do not get won over by ignorance) Don't say you only wanna be with me Don't say you're never gonna leave me Down Don't say you only wanna please me Don't say you're never gonna leave me Down right, i'm not 100% on the lyrics, but i know he switches what he's saying intermittently, either way, what he's basically saying now is, it's all over, and this time he's turned his attention to the girl and he's saying to her, and any other sexual partners he may encounter, 'don't ask me to commit, don't say you won't hurt me, don't say you won't leave, because I KNOW you will.' the repetition/elongation of the word 'down' is to signify the fact that he's now descending from his high, before he's finally brought back down fully and, quite literally, gasping for air, whilst Harry/Danny laughs at him and the song draws to a close. as i said before, this song is the closest you'll ever get to Dougie, without actually being with him 24/7 - but, this is just an opinion. |

Kankz: seriously... 'i try to drown you out, so down goes another one' that's obviously about alcohol, especially with the metaphor 'drown you out' that's almost exclusively used with alcohol the line: 'but the world moves on, you're just another one' refers to how, in the big scheme of things, you ARE just another statistic, so even though he hasn't moved on, the world has... |

no, the guy dunt commit suicide 'i try to drown you out, so, down goes another one', i'm fairly sure that's just in reference to him drinking to try to rid himself of thoughts of her, i don't think he commits suicide i think he's just haunted by her memory and so feels unable to move forward with his life, it's a vicious circle: 'try to drown you out, but the alcohol just brings back more memories, so down goes another on' |

is no one listening to me - THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT THE WAR IN IRAQ, IT'S ABOUT THE GENOCIDE IN DARFUR!!! ffs! oh and '300ZXFASTER', don't be a complete and utter prick! America is covered in poverty, but because it's mainly blackl/mixed-race people who're suffering, your stupid government cops a deaf 'un. and, no, your president doesn't execute people for expressing their opinion, cos so long as prats like you ignore the bad press and continue to blindly follow/conform to their pov there's no need to react. the second someone with a bit of influence starts protesting against the government, watch how quickly they disappear. |

this is possibly the most poigniant song about war i've ever heard - way to set it to the fucktards that America call a government SOAD as for some of the commentators (and no, i haven't read more than the first few comments, there's bloody 18 pages) the lyrics are bang on - par from the fact the guys missed out on the fact that Bush lso waged war to help his country's, at the time, falling economy. it sickens me hope much shit is kept from you guys on your news and stuff: at least we English know how shit and corrupt our government are. the stuff you get on the news isn't even the half, just as your history is mostly fiction, so too is your present news... |

|
aaand, these lyrics are wronggggg. 'We're sorry but your majesty Refusing orders from the queen Results in a monstrosity (Remembers a voice and hears him sing)' and it's only ever, 'Who is your lover? I couldn't tell When hell freezes over? That's when I'll tell' it never switches. See what it is is, Tom sings the questions and Danny sings the answers, from Anne Boleyn's POV. Basically see's bein interrorgated by the guards, but she won't say who her men is cos she knows what will happen to him. 'Anne Boleyn, she kept a tin, which all her hopes and dreams were in', she keeps a lid on her dreams so they can't carry her away. |

SaveTonight is correct, i adore McFLY and this song... Dougie is definately one deep (though, from his lyrics so far, fucked up) guy, btw, i'd just like to add to what's been said before. The title 'Transylvania' is a metaphor for the 'theme' of the song, it's basically referring to the connotations held with the title - that of horror. He's saying we live in a horible unjust world; which he later refers to in the lyrics: 'Ugly is the world we're on, if i'm right then prove me wrong'. |

Peanuts and raisins, errrr no, it's: Love is won over by ignorance Do not get won over by ignorance These pills weren't meant to hurt you For today and ever more andi do apologise, at the end he doesn't simply repeat the same line, he switches between: Don't say you love it when i'm bleeding Don't say you're never gonna leave me The songs basically about a gguy who messes/fucks about with love and then feigns ignorance when he gets hurt himself |
