This song is missing out some parts but I actually saw a completely different perspective on this song than most of you guys did. It sounds like its coming from the point of view of a person representing the thoughts of a generation that feels so un noticed. He's crying out saying "No one cares, I can be so much more than this" And often times I've discovered these are the thoughts of youth across america. That nobody recognizes their dreams, achievements, the fact they could be somebody amazing. A kid who is lacking affirmation in his calling and what he is supposed to do with his life. He feels as though everyone has given up on him. And one of the most key parts thats missing I think is the ending "Good goodbye lovely time. Good goodbye tin sunshine. Good goodbye I'll be fine. Good goodbye, good goodnight" I actually think its about suicide. He was crying out saying I can be more and nobody noticed. So he's saying I'm gonna be so much more than this. It's as though he thinks committing suicide would be a bigger legacy than he could ever have given alive. And at the end he's saying goodbye repeatedly. And then goodnight. When I think of sundown I picture my eyes closing the day coming to a close. When I say goodnight I'm going to sleep. When I say I'm fine, I'm really not. So thats just my take on this guys! |
