| @Dance With Me Lois: I like a lot your interpretation of that song. Seems very convincing to me. :) | |
| Keane – A Bad Dream Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I wouldn't have thought as well that the song was about war, like many of you I thought it would be mainly about a broken relationship. For example, I thought lines like "I was fighting/ But I just feel too tired to be fighting/ Guess I'm not the fighting kind." are meant in a metaphorical way, meaning that the person the song is about has been trying to get a long with his life somehow but gets to a point where he is giving up hope. @cliffsofdover: I also despise war and all things which are related to it. But don't you think that lines like "You that I defend, I had do not love" and "In a better time you could be my friend" point out the meaninglessness of war? (which shows in my opinion that the band has a very pacifistic point of view) Or do you simply dislike the fact that it is about war? Well, I think I really could understand that since everything which is about war/all talk about that subject always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. |

Thank you for all those detailed interpretations! Even though I really love this song (it always brings me in a good mood! ;)) I never had an idea what it was about. At least not until now. :) |

| Sonata Arctica – Shamandalie Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Normally this is not my type of music but I think the lyrics of "Shamandalie" are extremely beautiful, actually, according to its lyrics, it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to. So poetic and moving. I think the bands I'm listening to could learn something from Sonata, haha. |

I truly love the lyrics of that song! I guess adam98971 already resumed quite well its content. I also can relate very much to that song as after a really painful break-up I finally found somebody new (about one year ago) who really changed my life and helped me to see things in an optimistic way. I hope this so much to last. I think it is kind of ironic that the song has such a depressing title but is actually one of the happiest songs of Keane. :) Well, I read this statement somewhere and I really had to agree. |

| Keane – The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore (Walker Brothers cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think the feeling he describes is something everyone had to go through, whose heart has once been broken, what do you think? "A deep shade of blue is always there." I think he means by that expression that if you lost someone you really loved and still care about you can't really enjoy anything, no matter how much you used to like the things you are doing. I really know that so well, a silly example: I went out dancing with some friends and they were playing really good music but I couldn't be happy about that as nearly each song reminded me of the person I was missing. "The sun ain't gonna shine anymore The moon ain't gonna rise in the sky." I think this corresponds more or less with the fact that even though you've been left behind the world around you keeps on turning but for you it is not as you have the impression you just lost everything you ever had. In another song it is said: "Can't understand/ How eveyone goes on breathing/ When True love ends." I guess, that idea fits very well with the message of the Keane song. |

| Moby – Slipping Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song helped me not to give up in a very hard time in my life, probably the hardest I ever had. I think "Slipping Away" is providing so much optimism, without being cheesy or unrealistic in any way. It finally helped me to start over in life. Great song. :) |

| Keane – Maybe I Can Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think it is very moving that the singer and the songwriter have such a close relationship. I hope, they will be able to solve the current problems they have with each other. As I only have the two albums of Keane (I don't own any singles) I have never listened to the song yet but still I think the lyrics are very touching. It's only that I don't understand the last three lines: "But still somehow, I have to say 'I'm on my way' Gone" What does he mean by that? Can anybody help? |
