| Breaking Benjamin – Awaken Lyrics | 1 year ago |

For me, the most telling lyric in this song (for what it's about/means) isn't even written right on here - "A broken life has left me *born to burn*" (not "by the past") is the sort of thing I (as a longtime, diehard BB fan) have come to expect hearing from a lyricist like Ben, who has spoken about his regrets for ever drinking (as an alcoholic who once "wanted to drink himself to death" to numb anxiety/depression, and came out the other side of that with Wernicke-Korsakoff [syndrome] and other chronic pain). Ultimately, this song screams "I went to a place so dark I almost died, but when I saw the light it was life [instead of death/the end, as this word can often be associated with] so I let the tide pull me back". Feels like an anthem to anyone who "made it out/came out the other side" of (or *awakened* from) major depression or substance abuse/addiction |

| Breaking Benjamin – Anthem Of The Angels Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It's so obviously about watching someone you love die it kind of pains me to think someone would think this is a beautiful song for a relationship. White walls = hospital walls nothing left of you / I can see it in your eyes = person who is in the hospital is dead on the inside, but their body has not quite caught up yet sing the anthem of the angels = a beautiful metaphor about joining the dead on "the other side", basically 'let death take you' I keep holding onto you / But I can't bring you back to life = the person who's watching this loves the person who's dying and while they know their loved one is dying, they don't want to accept it I honestly think this would be fitting at a funeral. Beautifully tragic |

Everyone's entitled to their own interpretation. I personally feel this isn't about drug addicts or watching someone else fall apart... but about feeling YOU have hit rock bottom, and you're basically watching everything around you turn to shit because of where you're at. And as much as you want someone to help you (Daylight dies / Blackout the sky / Does anyone care? / Is anybody there?) you feel alone, and even if there is someone out there you just can't, because you feel like everything is so bleak and nothing will or could ever change to bring you up and out of your personal hell (Forever - and ever / the scars will remain / I'm falling apart / Leave me here forever in the dark). Then again, for all I know I'm just projecting how I feel onto a song that has some semblance of talking about being in dark places. |

| Trading Yesterday – Love Song Requiem Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is so haunting... it took me a day and someone else's word to figure out why it weirded/freaked me out so much. A requiem is a song meant to honour a dead person (I looked it up on dictionary.com), so this song has to be about someone that is dead and he's grieving. Or, if you want to look symbolically, the meaning of the word requiem could be used in a way that's singing about how she's dead to him. Like, she screwed up and left or something and he's singing about how she made a mistake and how he misses how she was and now she's dead to him? Doesn't seem as likely though... |

| Sarah McLachlan – Fallen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's looking back on a relationship. Boyfriend, husband (ex really), and realizing that 'love was raw and young'. None of the girl's friends and family liked this but she went on with it anyways. Someone screwed up, by the sound of it her, and when that relationship ended she hit rock bottom. She's 'lost to those I thought were friends / to everyone I know' and she doesn't want to hear 'I've told you so' because of a failed relationship. That's what it seems to me. A failed relationship and as a result, she's lost all of her friends and 'to everyone I know' and such. |

| Saliva – Rest In Pieces Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I see this in two ways. When I didn't know the true feeling of what this song is saying, it's about a relationship that left the guy brokehearted and a total wreck. Now.. well I think of it differently. I was listening to it a few hours ago and something finally clicked. Over the past few... well two years but recently realized within the last month and a bit, there was this guy I liked - my neighbour, my age, etc. He's a great guy when he isn't around his friends, and when he is he can be a total ass. For two years (the two years I've been here), I've had a big crush on him. I never saw him for who he was though; shallow. He never talked to me unless he had to. He never tried because he's used to those skinny girls that're considered 'cool'. This guy totally ruined me without knowing it. I knew it wasn't love, but it felt stronger than a crush. I pitied and felt sorry for him b/c of what I can hear goes on in his house (from my house, not other people). It took me forever to realize I was wasting my time and it took one little comment from my friend to break my heart and totally wreck me. So now, to me, this song is about a guy that loved a girl that he had strong feelings for, but she broke his heart and totally ruined him. |

Haha, honestly when she sings 'and never take for granted every breath you're breathing in' was 'and we will leave the planet, all the crap your breathing in'. I was always so confused... But yeah, I think this song is basically saying live every day to the fullest. Short and simple. Live your life the way you want and to the best extent you ever could do and want to. |

| Ryan Cabrera – With You Gone Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Ryan described this song in a concert (it's out on DVD). The song is about having a girl that he never truly appreciated until she was gone. Then he realized what he had really missed out on. Something close to that. I like this song =) |

dearfairangel, ditto actualy... but it was a Cabaret Night for October. It was awesome, this zombie puppet dance and they turn against the guy... I say the same actually, it's about the craziness of fame. |

| Plumb – Taken Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Has anyone really thought outside the guy-girl box? If you really think about it, this song could be able how we are separated from God (like it says in the song: 'And I'll always be with you In the distance That has taken you From me '). I mean, depends on how you look at it, but it could easily be about that as well. |

This is one of the few songs on her 2nd CD I like. Her entire CD was just... original. I loved the lyrics of practically all of her songs, but I didn't like more than half of them (good writing, not my favourite style). Anyways, this song... wow. It's like... I finally related to this song. My brother is in Japan for the next 2 and a half months, my mom was working a lot, and when my dad gets bored... well he's a retired military Commander... long story short he zeros in on things and yells and fights about it, and for weeks he did that (over the course of 2 weeks we fought more than we ever did in my lifetime, seriously). I just totally felt depressed, like no one was there and no one cared. I heard this song again from my iPod and just broke. To me, this song is about a girl that looses herself (whether it's something as simple as peer pressure or something as complex as drug addiction), and she's depressed. She has nowhere to go and no one will listen. She doesn't know what to do, and only trusts herself because she's been hurt before. That's how i see it. This song can mean many things, and everyone else can have a different interpretation for it, but that's mine =) |

| Ryan Cabrera – On The Way Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I enjoy this song at times =) I remember in an interview I saw YEARS ago (2005 or so), and he was saying this song is about someone or something saving you. He said it can be anything to whoever listens to the song, whether human or not, but it's about being saved. (unfortunately he never stated what it was to him, but I can only assume it's God). I love the meanings in... well all of his songs. They're almost always deep, and it makes it even more beautiful to listen to xD |

| Ryan Cabrera – Take It All Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I watched an interview when he was in a studio with John Rzenik and he was talking about the song (it was like, 2005. years ago when he was around more... I miss Ryan...), and he said it's about finding something more in life and how you should look beyond worldly possessions... There was more but I haven't seen it in years, so I won't quote anymore, but I love the song and remember those words when I hear it. |

| Ryan Cabrera – True Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I loved this song... now I listen to it when I need a quiet song to hear. I love his voice in this song, how good he sounds when singing in falsetto in the chorus =) And YES, he DID NOT WRITE IT FOR/ABOUT ASHLEE! I do kind of relate to this song... but it depends on how you look at it. I truly never thought about it being religious actually... mainly because when I first heard it I was never a strong Christian or knew much about God or anything (before I went to camps), but now that I read it after seeing the comment about it possibly being religious, I can see it. ('I've waited all my life, to cross this line, to the only thing that's true'... I mean honestly, how many things in life are entirely true? It could be about... I dunno, first thing that pops into my head is how when you die, and this is coming from a Christian view so don't read on if you don't agree with Christianity or anything, you cross over to the gates of heaven, the cross that Jesus was crucified on on. That's what I think when I hear that line now...). But it's definitely a beautiful song. When it comes to a girl-guy view tho, I TOTALLY understand this song =) (I like my neighbour and he never notices me, barely said a word to me unless he 'had' too, aka when I volunteered where he did, and now he sits next to me in one of my classes and still doesn't seem to acknowledge my existence. I don't linger on anything, I'm not waiting for something pointless, but I don't want to like him, but I just can't help it because I see him every day. Sometimes I just wish he would at least acknowledge that I'm there... and that's just how I relate to the song). |

| Ryan Cabrera – I Will Remember You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I like this song. I used to love it, but now I just like it occasionally. I think this makes a great grad song, honestly. It makes me think of all my friends I had in old towns that I had to move away from because of my dad and the military moving him... it doesn't make me think of any friend in particular, but just about all the people that have accepted me enough to call 'friend' (or an 'acquainted friend') |

| Ryan Cabrera – Blind Sight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I never knew the story behind this song... I get it now, but I still think it's about that and about how you really take advantage of life when you're young and you have to realize you don't have forever. I always saw it as a deep meaning. Sometimes when I listen to this song I cry... I did once when I was listening to it and found out something about one of my second cousins (who was 1 or 2 at the time. No, he didn't die, he was just... never mind, long story). But I do love this song because I always think of those reckless times where I always had fun as a younger kid, and now that I'm in grade 10 I realized some things that I've done and that I can't linger on the feeling of being 'invincible' (from the line: "I'm scared and I'm running, and I'm running out of time And all this time, I always thought we were invincible". Those lines always seem to get me and make me realize...) |

| Hannah Montana – Make Some Noise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I heard this song yesterday when I was searching around on youtube and I love it! I love songs like these, songs that say you're great as you are and you shouldn't have to change yourself because of a few things people say about you. I've had people make fun of me for... well me, when I was younger - all behind my back (mainly). I was always told what people would say about me from a friend that talked with these people that said 'em (sad thing was her mom was one of the people. It was pathetic). But you just have to get over what people say because in the long run, they're trying to make themselves feel better by taking you down. Speak up for yourself - Make Some Noise! =) |

| Bryan Adams – Never Let Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Guys, it's in the credits of The Guardian. After watching the 2 hours and 45 minutes of it, you can sit through the first 3 minutes of the credits and you'll hear this song automatically. I love this song, the one line in the beginning is what the song's about: Can you lay your life down so a stranger can live? It's about courage and bravery and putting your life on the line to save another. I see this as a song for Harry Potter actually... (just from reading what he's had to do for the wizarding world and such. I'm not spoiling the ending of D.H just in case, but this song speaks what sacrifices he's had to make 'so a stranger can live'). And it's such a coast guard song too obviously, about how they risk their lives every day to save the innocent that get stuck or lost in the water... |

| Kutless – Promise of a Lifetime Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's about God and when you're Christian (or in a religion where you believe in God), you have a promise with God and He has a promise with you and he'll always be there ('I know you're always there, To hear my every prayer inside'). It can be heard and thought of as a song about two peopl in love but this song is much more meaningful than that, it's much stronger than anything because there's no connection stronger than you and God. |

| Nickelback – Far Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love this song... it's so emotional. I do think it's about a guy leaving a girl he loves (more than it being vice versa) and he wants [to find her and have] her back with him. That's how I see it anyways. |
|
| Aly & AJ – Speak For Myself Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love this song... it said in the CD booklet cover thing about this song and in one line it was described. Something about 'kids shouldn't be ignored'. It's all about teenagers being able to make their wn choices and they should be listened to and they're their own person. And lyric correction, it goes: I will, I will Speak for myself What you see ISN'T ALL I AM NOT 'isn't all you', it's 'isn't all I am' |

| Jesse McCartney – Just So You Know Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love this song! I saw the music video and completely understood it (to my understanding that is, other's might see it a tiny bit different). It's about a guy whose in love with a girl that's already taken (and even though she's already taken, she has feelings for him too - that's how I take to the lines "looking back I've realized, it was always there just never spoken"). In the music video, it shows that two guys and a girl are friends, and one of the guys has the girl while Jesse wants her. It seems the girl starts to grow closer to Jesse, and in the end she runs into a cafe he's sitting in, watching the trip they went on and the clips she's in, and it's apparent she and the guy broke up and she goes to him for support. So yeah, that's how I see it. Great song, my absolute favourite of Jesse's (and apparently I listened to it 220 something times within the two weeks I had it on iTunes). |

| Katharine Mcphee – My Destiny Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Yeah, it can definitely be a song about God. But when I first heard it, I just imagined a wedding (it's true, I used it for a fan fiction in a wedding). I just heard it and figured it could be about someone whose life changes when they meet someone who turns into the love of their life. |
