i feel like in the first four lines Brooke is singing about himself and the rest is how he suspects his audience sometimes views him, because if you have ever been to a show, he tends to mock the crowd alot. i feel like this is him feeling bad about that, not really apologizing because of the circle/back biteing thing. because that is part of his live show he feels a little betrayed by what people say about his beligerant live shows, and to those very same people i say fuck you you bastards, and also thanks for guilting Brooke into writing this awesome song! *~* |

it's "tickets to their planes" because i believe this song is about a certain member *cough* alden*cough* announcing his homosexuality to his prospective "partner" but he denies his love and says he's not gay, and everyone he knows feel uncomfortable with the whole situation, and they leave for a bit, like out of town. and out of passion he thinks about "slitting your throat, and cutting off your dick" it's mainly about confusion and the human nature of fearing change, or things that are different |

yeah what do you mean? nobody would write a song to have no meaning... actually nick diamonds is one of the most talented modern song writers. he uses alot of subtlety and second meaning-play-on-word rhymes. depending on what kind of person you are you can take his sogs superficially and gain nothing accept 3 minutes of enjoyment, or you take a part of his songs with you. i agree with Tanyaface, in that the beauty of his music is that you, the listener, can interpret the song however you like, but there is no truth in saying you shouldn't take island song or unicorns songs seriously. the word subtle drama can describe most of his songs. |

this is not by Islands, the unicorns recorded this song live for an XFM radio broadcast as well as the songs "Sea Ghost" and "Les Os" and all three of these are aaammmaaaazzziiinnnggg recordings. but, the islands do play this song live sometimes, and th' corn gangg did sometimes aswell |

*Gasp* a vegan bitching about milk? shocking... anyways with SamanthaSecretAgent's superlative insight into this song, i'm lead to believe that "she" is none other than, Nick Diamonds, or Nick T. whichever he is wanting to be called. Hah the jig is up! but.... in case that isn't the case, i agree with the "total void" being T.V. especially with the following lines " tells me stories, sometimes they make me sorry" these being either shows, movies, or the news. and the lines "but i need another, i need another" obviously signify an addiction, whether it be to the "total void" or to assorted illegal substances that the title makes relevant. i'm not sure about the SMDB, maybe just whimsical imagery... idk personally i feel like the chorus is about a relationship that the protagonist of this song is in. the "sleek skeleton that i hold" may be the protagonist holding his partner(in the classical sense, like a hug, not a child), however this "sleek" (meaning skinny, attractive) "skeleton"(meaning a person, bone structure) has no "hidden folds"(meaning this person is attractive, but doesn't have an intresting personality) which is supported by the first verse's last line "i think i'm through listening to you" (obviously because they're boring) however i don't know about the second verse i draw a blank |
