In an interview from the band, the singer says that he saw and met this random girl in NYC that he thought was beautiful. He told her he was going to write a song about her. He totally forgot about writing the song and she called him and asked to hear it. He confessed that he forgot, then wrote Hey There Delilah. He called her to sing it to her, but found out she had moved suddenly. Kinda different from what I thought, but that's music. :] |

I heard on an interview with atl that the song was about the lead singer having an affair with a married woman, and secretly meeting in coffeeshops and not being able to have more, because she's already married. Straight from the guys lips! (some very sexy lips, thank you.) |
