| Kings of Leon – Soft Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
when you snort too much coke, it damages your septum in your nose and can cause excessive nose bleeds. cocaine can also cause impotence in men, which is why he is "soft" therefore, the meaning of the song is as follows: boy meets girl. boy does lines of coke with girl. boy and girl try to have sex. boy is "soft" and can't get it up because of too much cocaine. girl has nosebleed because of too much cocaine. brilliantly and tastefully written. love these boys... KINGS OF ROCK! |

| Santigold – Lights Out Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i think she's talking about how all media has collapsed and people have no choice but to face themselves and deal with their own problems, as opposed to fawning over the problems of others on tv, in magazines, etc. so they're all trying to run, run away from their problems, from everything... but she can't, she's stuck, she's forced to deal and it's kind of a good thing - that she has to deal with it all, all her problems. | |
| MeShell NdegeOcello – Bitter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| what it is to hurt someone you love... to love and be loved, and have it taken away so harshly because of one mistake... i've been there | |
| Ingrid Michaelson – Corner of Your Heart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I will leave this man just to occupy one minute of your day." i love this line. the desperation - to see this man, even just for a minute. she seems almost tortured by her love for this man she isn't suppose to be with, nevermind love. she wants nothing more than to just be a part of his life. i know that feeling. |

| Madonna – I Love New York Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Guys, seriously... do you honestly think she meant this song literally?! It's what New York represents to her that she loves and in the Confessions DVD she has a laugh about the song afterwards and tells the audience that 'New York is a state of mind'. So it's not the most deeply profound lyrics on earth, but instead she's making a statement: "I have the balls to stand up for my right and what I believe in, if you don't like it then fuck you" and for her that's the sort of attitude New York represents... conceptually it's actually not that bad a song! |

| Fiona Apple – Red Red Red Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
So this could possibly be way out of whack, but when she says: "Side by side they both get bright Together they both get gray" It makes me think of a relationship in the sense that the two people complement each other so well and as LoserNo1 said about complementary colours, the two people offset each other and seem to grow brighter, or happier rather when they are side by side. And then with the second part "Together they both go gray", the two people so happy and in love grow old together. I don't know if that makes sense to anybody else but it's another way to look at it, even if it doesn't fit with the meaning of the song as a whole. |

| Amel Larrieux – Bravebird Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yeah, I agree with moody mellow. In a sense she is calling the girl Bravebird because she has maintained strength, persisted and overcome, inspite of her hardships and that's something worth celebrating. The use of an uplifting beat makes the song inspiring, which is what it should be, to send a message that is positive. |

| Bloc Party – I Still Remember Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Amazing, takes my breath away every single time. Trust them to take it to the next level lyrically. Shows beauty and innocence in something that would 'normally' be deemed as wrong and inconceivable. |

| Aqualung – Easier to Lie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To love and not be loved in return... "It's easier to lie" It's easier to be who you want me to be, to play the part, to exist for you... In essence that's what the song is saying... The persona is too weak and in too deep that he/she no longer knows what's true, and knows only what he/she with this person they love, or what he/she has strived to have with this person |

| Amy Winehouse – I Heard Love Is Blind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Came across this song only recently and wow, what a frickin' song!! Sounds like a combination of Erykah Badu and Jill Scott... Anyhow, didn't really know what she was singing until I read the lyrics now and I'm really impressed... She takes such a unique perspective on cheating, or unique in terms of the way she wrote it... The last line "But I heard love is blind" is what it is, but if you think beyond the literal meaning, she's saying that love does not see, it feels... it's something inside of you that isn't physical... the sex she had with the other person was completely physical and heartless, because in her mind, she was thinking of the guy she loves... |

| Sia – Don't Bring Me Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song... WOW!! The second I hear it I get goosebumps... For me, it's the first time I've ever read words that could possibly describe your first time having sex, something so seemingly indescribable. It's so hard to write about something like that without sounding cheesy and the lyrics of this song just do it for me. I love the way she describes the persons hesitance and ultimate descent into temptation... incredible. I know Sia may have intended for the song to mean something else, but I suppose each to their own... We all take something different from it. |

"I'll runaway with you" wow. that line is PERFECT |
|
| Sia – Numb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"It has to end to begin" That line moves me... It almost feels like she's trying to saying he/she needs to stop what they're doing eg. stop taking drugs/cheating/lying... whatever it may be for them to start again and continue on with whatever it is they have with each other |
