most interpretations have already been posted, so just one thing i noticed was how similar this song is to the offspring's pretty fly. somewhat the meanings behind them, but more so the fact that people who had no idea what the songs were actually about were singing along and thinking they were so cool, when the song itself was making fun of people like them. |

yeaah, it's basically about how kids think they're really bad ass and use terms like "non-comformist" and "sell out" thinking it makes them so fucking cool.. when they preach about not liking the popular bands just because they're popular when they're being such hypocrites and not giving any band who makes money a chance.
if you choose to conform to something you're not to make yourself happy, you have to pick something to conform to, pick how you want people to see you. and these are the kids whose hypocrisy goes under the rug because people fear their disapproval.
it's analogous to the affirmative action laws because they use a discriminatory mentality and flip it in the other direction to try and solve the problem. |

while the pun was quite intentional, i think mike is really just talking about soul doubt.
the lyrics are pretty straightforward, though mostly metaphorical.
and yeaah, i agree with shaun.. this is definitely one of the best nofx songs, lyrically at least. |

Wow, well said Jesus Of Suburbia, but even more so clarelvsmychem. People are so fucking ignorant, saying that everyone sold out and having no idea what they're talking about. It's these same people that claim to be open-minded and non-judgmental when in reality, they only accept the non-cliche things and completely stamp out anything close to normal. These people are just as fucking ignorant as the people who only accept the status quo. The punk scene is getting fucked up the ass with kids who think they know exactly what they're talking about. Sure, there are times when being ridiculously pompous helps get a message across, but this isn't it. Anti-Flag is amazing, whether they sound more like Ashlee Simpson or old Anti-Flag, I don't care, they've got amazing lyrical quiality and they know what they're saying before they say it. A-F is one of the last real bands out there. |

I definetely agree with JeffKaos71, I was thinking about What Happened while reading these lyrics.
Also, while Fat Mike may have had a sober period in his life, he definetely hasn't stuck to it.. He's known for his drug and alcohol use and I also don't necessarily think Fatty's saying that it's a bad thing, he's just bewildered by the fact that he can't remember shit. |
