| Modest Mouse – Path of Least Resistance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
story of my life, taking the path of least resistance. best song. |
| Mount Eerie – My Burning Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"in revege for my burning i burn the whole world it was warm for alittle bit" to come back from being messed with, he messed around with everyone, and for a little bit, he was satisfied. |

| Manchester Orchestra – I Can Barely Breathe Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"when I fly solo, I fly so high" this line makes me cry. but what does it mean to "fly so high"? based on the key, the vocals, and the rest of the song, it doesn't sound like he's happy to be flying solo. I think it means he feels reckless, unattached, disoriented, like a bird flying too high. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Possess Your Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
honestly. I do not like this song whatsoever. |
| The National – Secret Meeting Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm 100% sure it's "I'm talking ace, but I'm folding". not only could it mean adamdwitt's "this is great, but fuck it", but I was thinking of it in terms of card games. Aces are usually good to have in a hand, yeah? but if you fold, then you're out of the game. I guess it goes back to "this is great, but fuck it". |

| Iron & Wine – House by the Sea Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| his earlier music is wonderful, TSD is wonderful, sam bean is pretty much a musical genius. this song in particular is just awesome. the instrumentation is so good, all the different layers. it sounds very delicate | |
| Devendra Banhart – Lover Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| innuendos? where? | |
| Sufjan Stevens – Rake Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I wish people would leave god out of their interpretations of sufjan's lyrics, unless it's very blatantly about god :\ I understand, but it's also really irritating because I'm an atheist |
| Radiohead – Creep Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I hate this song, honestly | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – Line of Best Fit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
absolutely gorgeous. "I remember being inside something more than you" the female vocals at the end are so beautiful and hushed. does anyone know who sings that part? there's two versions of this song, one off of Something About Airplanes, and one off of You Can Play These Songs With Chords; I prefer the first one. also, by 'line of best fit', I think he's maybe saying that the relationship goes through very good and very bad times, and that the average of them (which is, on a graph, called the line of best fit) is neither good nor bad, it just feels like nothing. |
| Iron & Wine – Weary Memory Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it couldn't be about his mother, because it says, "Found a photo of you when we were married". I see it as him remembering his love that died or left him, and the memories of her are burned so strongly into his mind that he can 'easily conjure' them at a moment's notice. |
| Azure Ray – Leap Year Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is gorgeous. "In a hurry, but there's so much time" teenagers falling in love. the need to find passion. even though you have the rest of your life. |
| Stars – The Night Starts Here Lyrics | 18 years ago |
You drop a coin Into the sea And shout out, "Please come back to me!" I interpreted that to be like letting go of someone you love (drop a coin into the sea), and when you want them to come back, they are long gone (coins will sink, of course) |
| Minus the Bear – Hey! Is That a Ninja Up There? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
no, cruzman, it's not just you. "and you ran into the sea like a cop without fear you're gonna ruin your shoes" so fucking perfect. it just paints this beautiful picture in my head, especially two minutes into the song, where it slows down, then gets really intense again; without being too weird, I'd compare it to how it feels to have sex, and being completely focused on each other and what you're both experiencing. and then the next stanza is like laying bare ass naked on the bed, on top of the sheets, both of you feeling intensely satisfied. |
| Iron & Wine – Prison on Route 41 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think the word 'prison' should be taken completely literally, just as a bad experience, or something similar, that they're caught up in and can't escape. maybe a family tragedy that he's blatantly ignoring with the help of Virginia? could be way off, but that's my loose interpretation |
| Kings of Convenience – Failure Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hahaha sunstorm_five, that made me laugh so hard. just the way he sings "faaailuuure" and thinking of someone failing a test is just so fucking good |
| The National – Abel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| in the biblical story of cain and abel, cain kills abel, even though they're brothers. if the name abel is being used in reference to the biblical story, I'm sure that ties into it | |
| The National – Theory of the Crows Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I'm losing my posture from time on my knees" love it. |
| Minus the Bear – Throwin' Shapes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm not gonna lie, I do notttt like mtb's new album. it doesn't have the same kind of flowy sound that all their old stuff had. it's really disappointing | |
| Minus the Bear – Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
" You said, "My life's like a bad movie" I said, "That's true of all us" You said, you said, "I've got to wake up so fucking early" And I said, "Maybe the director's turned on us" " Everything in her life is going wrong perfectly, as in a movie (you all know how that goes). "Maybe the director's turned on us" means that, maybe a higher power is purposely making all these things go wrong. Makes sense, because the director of a movie is the most highest authority. |
| Radiohead – Faithless, the Wonderboy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I've read somewhere that "can't put the needle in" means that he can't commit to anything. Which makes sense with the part "Too scared to talk, too scared to try". it does also make sense if it was a drug reference. xcats, what the hell? |
| Iron & Wine – A Book Unfinished Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The only part I know for sure what it means is this: "No more weeds left in your garden No more green and no more stone No more guilty left to pardon Only evil of your own" What I got from it is that the person who the song is about, they problems that they're having is all of their own doing. The first three lines are saying that they've gotten everything and everyone out of the way that could be causing problems, when really it's themself. And the last line is self-explanatory. |
| The Most Serene Republic – Stay Ups Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Stay up for me and we’ll compose and make a song that no one knows." this song is absolutely perfect in every way. |
| Death Cab for Cutie – State Street Residential Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I actually think that this song isn't about him being a jerk when he's drunk, because of the lines "The whiskey soothes more than you could ever do". Obviously the problem isn't him being a jerk, it's that the the alcohol dulls the feeling of wanting out of the relationship, and the fear of breaking his girl's heart. | |
| Death from Above 1979 – Pull Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think it's possible to write a song as blatant as this about anything other than sex. orgasm. god damn. |
