I think it might have been that Regina had a dream of being a spy in WW1 with Mata Hari. She was invited by her (hence the line "my invitiation said bring your own shovel") She arrives and notices that the war is dirty, and nothing she expected it to be like.. "They want them much straighter, Much nicer, more even. Well I though I’d do something nasty as well I brought my own shovel and dug up this here well Then I shuffled my feet and I sniffed at the smells" she's desperate to remind herself of home, and says things like "Then I cuddled up my grandma put her in there to sleep. Then I licked up an envelope in it I sent All the bones And the bones And the braids from my head." Which obviously relates back to her singing in the tune of My Favorite Things. |

This is one of the only songs, which from start to end makes me shiver. the whole tune and melody is inquizitive. "in my cell i'm tatooing myself with mermaids and swallows and dirt i do swallow my momma thinks i'm grown but i'm really just little and someday i will remember someday i will remember" is a verse which is full of pain and hatred, disbelief and hate. |

This song speaks for itself really, the belief in jesus and the biblical story in modern times. |

I really think this could be about the plague. but i think it could be about her having the plague at modern times. i think this because it sounds like she is hospital environments somtimes, "I wait for you still Wires round my fingers" I am almost certain her gasps for breathe are due to her plague infection. Regina has said that most of her songs are from her dreams and imagination, and I can surely say that i've had dreams of being in a hospital, ill, gasping for breathe. I think when we think of being locked in a hospital the "I (uh) Am (uh) In a room, I've built myself (uh) For (uh) Straight walls (uh) One floor (uh) One ceiling" verse can really relate to us. Nevertheless, such a beautiful song, one of Regina's best, I wish everybody had heard this song. :) |
