| VAST – Turquoise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I LOVE this song... It's definitely one of my favorites... But can some one figure out the significance of the color turquoise? It's been plaguing me since the moment I heard it... | |
| VAST – I'm Dying Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think quite a few people so far have touched on the meaning, but most missed it altogether... Basically, the song is a prayer to Jesus... He's saying "I am a sinner, but that doesn't mean that I don't love you... Temptation and carnal pleasure is here on earth, and you exist on a higher plain of reality... I need you to be here with me..." He's praying that Jesus would look past his sinful actions, and into his heart and see that he truly is a good man... He is aware of his own mortality, and is trying to repent... And he wants us all to know that we are mortal too... | |
| VAST – If You Are In Heaven Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
OK, this needs to be corrected... oh, if I’m going to hell… Damn, i can’t win if you are in heaven i don’t want in… there is you, there isn’t pain just go and face the end, cause there is true forgiveness only if you do something evil Basically, he's expressing his conflict between good and evil... He doesn't do EXACTLY what The Bible tells him... In fact, he doesn't care much for the people who do. He's pretty much saying "If I have to be like you to get into Heaven, and if there are more people like you IN heaven, I want nothing to do with it... However, I shouldn't be damned, because I've done nothing 'wrong'."Forgive the waste of space, but a friend of mine told me a story that REALLY made me think of this song... In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Jon Crosby based this song on the main character... The story goes:One Sunday morning, a preacher said to his audience "Those of you who have sinned, please rise!". Everyone in the audience rose to their feet, except one man. The preacher cleared his throat, and repeated himself more loudly. "Those of you who have sinned, PLEASE stand up!". The man remained seated. The preacher glared at the man, and bellowed "Those of you who have sinned, STAND UP NOW!". The man responded "I am not a sinner, I am a man.".I've always liked that story...RIP, Daiv... |

| VAST – Electric Womb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Also... I just wanted to add that this song REALLY bugs me... Call me a stickler for grammar, but the line "Then he would have gave us wings" is egregiously improper... "Then we would be born with wings" would have fit perfectly... | |
| VAST – Electric Womb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
First, a minor correction to the lyrics: And if [Man] wanted to survive Why'd he have to build machines? I agree with VASTjunkie in saying that this line is the keystone of the song. Basically, he's pointing out the irony in the fact that we've become so proud of, and dependent upon technology, that it's as if we've enveloped ourselves in a womb... If our electrical grid were to shut down, and our satellites were to fail, we would all be as helpless as a newborn baby... |

| VAST – Blue Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I KIND of agree with Trasazon... Except I think he might be talking to some one... I think he's basically saying "Will you help me forget just how much I've wasted my life?", and then continuing with "We're both headed towards uncertainty, and ultimately death, so we might as well suffer together until we die...". | |
| VAST – Senorita Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's romantic that he is working in 100 degree heat on a farm for the proverbial 'evil white-man' to send money home to his senorita, but when he paints himself as a martyr and a "prisoner", that completely trivializes his gesture... When you're suffering for your lover, suck it up and don't bitch about it by calling yourself a 'prisoner'. Otherwise, you're a douche, not a hero. This song isn't romantic, it's pathetic... Either that, or it's a satire or a parody... Either way, it's got a pretty good melody... | |
| VAST – Pretty When You Cry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
As many people have said, 'Pretty when You Cry' is about a mutually abusive, co-dependent relationship... This song appears to depict a man who expresses his love by making his lover suffer, and a woman who needs to suffer to feel loved... In a sick sort of way, this is a perfect relationship... On a side note, Jon Crosby actually released a version of this album with a commentary track... During this song, he explains that he finds it interesting how so many people feel the need to hurt the one they love just to affirm that that person loves them. I don't know about anyone else, but I found this observation to be PAINFULLY accurate... |

| VAST – Dirty Hole Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The people who keep bringing up the heaven/hell thing keep missing the important line "As I spread her thighs, my life flashes before my eyes...". I don't think he's talking about spreading God's thighs... I believe he is personifying death as a woman. He starts out anticipating the sweet release of death, (or sexual climax) and realizes that it's his 'destiny'. But, as he approaches the dirty hole (the grave/vagina), his life flashes before his eyes (some say our life flashes before our eyes when we're faced with death). Now, this is not to say that he has 'performance problems' in bed; anyone who's been there could tell you that when you find yourself between the thighs of the 'wrong woman', it's a very disturbing and chilling experience... I believe that some of the lines (such as the chain-gang chorus) refer specifically to a woman. I've toyed with the possibility that while he's personifying death as a woman, he is also equating women (or a certain woman) to death... As though he feels trapped and helpless to escape their/her evil, and the suffering they/she are putting him through...I'd LOVE to debate this, so if anyone thinks I'm wrong, by all means, PUT ME IN MY PLACE!bakakurisu@gmail.com myspace.com/crocoppitz |

| VAST – Channel Zero Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
First, I'd like to make a few corrections to the lyrics: Casualties of channel zero Didn't 'LET GO' Technology has the better 'OF ME', But I prevail... The song actually IS about people's addiction to television... Our addiction is killing our spirit, thereby killing who we are... He admits that technology has the better of him, but he still manages to be unique... It is a well-known fact that Jon Crosby HATES television... No, DDT... It's not about porn. I ASSURE you... |
