Mazzy Star – Under My Car Lyrics 18 years ago
This is an obscure Mazzy Star song and perhaps not many people have heard it.

I think the narrator is expressing her guilt and condemning herself for her role in her friend's descent into drug addiction that will ultimately lead (either literally or metaphorically) to the friend's death. Another interpretation could be that the narrator was the cause of the friend's death from a disease such as AIDS.

The Cure – If Only Tonight We Could Sleep Lyrics 18 years ago
I've always imagined this song to be about extraterrestrial abductions.

The "bed made of flowers" seemed to symbolize the immobile levitation of one's body as it is taken into the alien spacecraft and the "deathless spell" the sort of hypnotism for which the aliens were notorious.

The "deep black water" would be outer space, in which a human cannot "breathe" without help.

Following this interpretation, it's pretty obvious what the "angel" with "burning eyes like stars" is.

The lines after that are pretty creepy for their surrealism if one follows the extraterrestrial abduction interpretation of this song, and trying to figure out their meaning in this context might lead to some pretty strange nightmares if one thought about it too much.
