Every source on the internet I've looked at has the wrong lyrics. Here are the correct ones. Cheers. "I've been heading in the wrong direction do you feel me getting further away I've been drowning in my own reflection getting closer to the edge every day. I was looking for a prisoner, looking for a prisoner who kept calling her their only hope we're stranger than fiction. every step you make will be the last day of our lives every line you take just pushes me away. here we go round around every bend thread the needle through the eye of your pain sucking you in dragging you down breathing you in. every step you make (dragging you down) will be the last day of our lives (breathing you in) every line you take (dragging you down) just pushes me away. You're borderline (x4) You're borderline. Here we go round around every bend thread the needle through the eye of your pain sucking you in dragging you down breathing you in. You're borderline (x3)" |

| As souljamike was saying, it might also be a play on "Think the same". Or something. But I agree with what you're hinting at. | |

I like the Curve remix of this much better, off of the Join the Dots boxed set. x3 It's just made for fun. xD But I must admit, it sounds as if someone is trying to convince a prude to do the horizontal dance with them. xDD |

The song to me appears to be some person who's otherwise realized just how stagnant his life has become. And that while with even the one he should love and care about, something seems wrong. And out of the sense of being out of place, he begins to feel as if he's tripping, his mind is warping. He's not sure if this means he's crazy, or if anything has changed, including in himself. So he asks himself desperately to be sure this is the same thing he's fallen in love with. But then he's not sure at all, again questioning himself: Say it's the same you Say it's the same you and it's always been like this Say it's the same you Say it's the same you and it always and forever is Say it's the same you Say it's the same you and it's always been like this Say it's the same you Say it's the same you and it always and forever is Say it's the same you Say it's the same you Yeah tell me it's all the same This is how it's always been But if nothing has changed... Then it must mean... And as he questions himself, he realizes how starkly different and unfamiliar things have become to him, what he used to love is alien and grotesque: But the sun is cold - the sky is wrong The stars are black - the night is gone The world is still - the space is stopped The time is out - the day is dropped The house is dark - the room is scarred The boy is stiff - the bed is hard The blood is thick - the head is burst The taste is dry - the kiss is thirst And what finally takes the last straw is the person he should love and confide things in has become some other grotesque warping of what he used to be content with. And it's not the same you It's not the same you No it never was like this It's not the same you It's not the same you and it never really is It's not the same you It's not the same you No it never was like this It's not the same you It's not the same you and it never really is It's not the same you It's not the same you But like a true artist, and as screamingly real to people's emotions, Robert left a questionable ending: Oh it's not the same This isn't how it's always been Everything has to have changed... Or it's me... It makes you wonder if he was imagining this all. True to the feelings of people becoming disenchanted with love and life and things they think they should be happy with. |
