This is what the song is saying: First off, we are more than just humans, we are here for a reason. Second, God gave us free will, and we should use that for him. Third, we are not inferior and we're meant for something. Fourth, from dictionary.com, "A song or chant, especially a nonmetrical hymn with words taken from a biblical text other than from the Book of Psalms." That is the definition of a canticle. Pretty much a given there. Now the Image of the Invisible part. Christian means literally "Little Christ". We are supposed to be as Jesus was, we are supposed to represent God on earth. Also, Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." Yet again, we are the Image of the Invisible. "now we are found" Talking about being lost from Christ and being saved. "we are all named and we are known" I'm not sure on this part, but he may be talking about the Lamb's Book of Life, where are names are written and we are known as those who are saved. "We know that we'll never walk alone" We won't walk alone because we have God with us. On the next verse: The dial tone and static part is pretty much the equivalent to the carbon and chemicals part. "We are emblematic of the Unknown" Pretty much the same thing as "We are the Image of the Invisible". The raise the banner part: Stand up for what you believe in. Remove the cancer, take back your souls: Get rid of the sin and get your spiritual life in the right direction. "Though the world may hate us, we are named" I feel that this is similar to the "named" lyric above. Though people don't want us, we are still God's. "Though shadows overtake us, we are known" Though we are tempted, God is by our side. So, all in all, quite a Christian song. |
