| I think its "This portrays a striking resemblance" not poor trace. :) Brilliant song. Haven't heard the version with just Nick in it yet. | |

This song is 100% about vampires. The one line no one has yet to mention (blows my mind too), is "My fangs are aching as I'm pondering about you and I forever." Vampires... have fangs. Humans... do not. :) My take, is its about a vampire that has fallen in love with a human, and is turning her into a vampire in order to be with her forever. Lately, vamps have been portrayed more artistic than evil (Who hasn't read Ann Rice?? You're living under a rock), and turning someone into a vampire is more emotional than "eternal damnation". "The streets are dark, my pulse is flat-lined" - vamps come out at night! And require no pulse - "My fangs are aching" - once again, vamps = fangs - "hope that my pale complexion won't blow my cover" - vampires have pale faces - "Your eyes are softer now and your chin, it drips a bloody color of rust" - he has just turned her; her eyes are soft/dialated from lack of blood, her chin/throat is dripping blood from the bite - "would you like to leave this human race, tonight?" - she's leaving humanity for immortality. That, and all the talk about immortality and eternity, adds up to vampires. Looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, moves like a duck, therefore...? Come on. Vampires. Duh. |
