| I think the song is trying to put emphasis on the total niavety of this bloke, who seems to jump from one relationship to the next- convinced every time that this is the one. By his announcement that 'if that aint love then i dont know what is' I dont think thats sarcasm on his part, I think its general being lost in his own world of what he thinks is love- young, naive love etc. | |

I think this song is basically the fear of getting past an age where you dont feel like you've got much choice left in the course your life is going to take. The person in the song appears to have a sort of beakdown about losing that control over his life that he had when he was younger. He realises that life probably wont (or cant) change much now and its sort of a reaction to that- to getting older and accepting your life is headed in a certain direction. Its maybe about losing that essence of free spirit and suddenly realising you are part of the rat race and pretty much stuck there |

I always thought this song was about living in dream like state- the chemicals of imagination. I dont think Ive explained that very well but I interpret the first verse not as something thats happened, but as a daydream. This girl is fed up, shes at work so she drifts off into a daydream and in her mind that sees her up and leave for the country and not care about the consequences because in her 'imaginary world' it really is no big deal. Hence the whole chemical world is cheap- its easy, theres no pressure coz you design it yourself. Its like a way of getting away from the real world and the responsibilities. I think 'their putting the holes in' is a reference to how society and life today makes it s difficult to continue to have these dreams- because there is always someone there knocking little holes into your dreams and shattering the dream of a world that you would like. Just my interprestation anyway x |
