| Eminem pretty much explicitly tells you the meaning of this song IN the song. | |

| BitchyFace84 who's "she" that you're refering to? The chick singing the chorus? This song's more about Eminem. | |

| That's not an interpretation of the song's meaning. It's a literal summary of the plot. Yes, knowing the plot is important towards understanding the meaning of a song, but it is not necessarily the meaning of the song in and of itself. | |
| Pantera – 13 Steps To Nowhere Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
"Whores" - fame whores. "Your windows boarded up, your private lives exposed" - trying to get some privacy, to no avail because the media is putting you under a microscope "The talk shows pump it up, lab rats diseased for show" Celebrities trying to do damage control and maintain their image b going on talk shows like Ellen or Oprah (happens a lot) and really, it's just a bunch of people putting their problems on display for the rest of us to entertain/pre-occupy ourselves with. "We're doomed to use the slang, outbreak of drug roulette" - it becomes hip to use whatever new slang gets introduced while following the lifestyles and exploits of such celebrities. If said celebrity has a drug problem, watchthere be an outbreak of it becoming more hip for dipshits to try to emulate that lifestyle, even though they're gambling with their lives. How many people thought heroin was cool because of Kurt Cobain in the early 90's? And by people I mean morons. Probably quite a few. "13 Steps (To Nowhere)" - 12 step programs leading to nothing "A backwards swastika" - not quite sure what he's referring to there. "the black skin riddled in lead" - Rappers shooting each other, most likely. This WAS made the year Tupac was shot and killed. "A Nazi Gangster Jew" - there are many who subscribe to the belief that the media is fascist, criminal and run by Jews. Is Phil perhaps one of those people? "it beats a dog that's dead" beating a dead horse AND kicking a dog while it's down simultaneously. Again, could be referring to the media hyping Tupac's death. HE DID die that year, like I said. And continuously hyping his death eventually becomes beating a dead horse after a while. Not to mention that digging into the man's private life even after he's been shot is kind of like kicking a dog while it's down. So... "It's in to use the slang" gangster slang "outbreak of gun roulette" Outbreak of people fucking around with firearms like they're personal fashion accessories/toys. Shooting somebody is NOT a game, but gangsta wannabes treat it like one because it's hip to do so. The drug roulette lyric could also be referring to this same thing with drugs. I remember reading an interview where Layne Stayle would complain of people using drugs, wanting to live a lifestyle like the guys in Alice in Chains, and not realizing that Alice in Chains' music was meant to caution people AWAY from that lifestyle. "The cross slants to the side, will prove the damnedest yet" Maybe referring to a gun cocked to the side? As is hip when following the gangsta rap trend of cocking your gun to the side like an idiot? I dunno. "13 Steps - Leads to nowhere" - Again, 12 step programs are useless. "The backlash dislocates, an untimely reign of death" - probably referring to hype backlash in some way? And the media hype of untimely celebrity deaths? "The wolf poked with the stick, awaits with cancerous breath" Maybe a warning about the angry backlash of people who are tired of having this shit shoved down their throats? Defensive fans? Or maybe Phil was warning the media for how they went about handling him. Like "Don't fuck with me! You're poking a wolf with a stick" kinda thing? I dunno... "Outsiders still suppose, there's Holy streets to roam" - People who don't know what the celebrity life is really like, aren't familiar with is and think the celebrity life appealing because it's made out to be so glamorous and maybe even transcendental of "shitty ordinary life" "The truth should not surprise, your homes were built on lies" This should come as no great surprise to the media whores whose lives and homes were BUILT on selling such a glamorous image to the masses. Even if it's all a lie. Yeah, so HARDLY a deliberately meaningless set of lyrics that means nothing. Come on people! Surely you can do better than "Durr... I can't understand it so anyone trying to interpret it must be over-thinking it! It's just a bunch of gibberish like a 12 step program! That's the meaning! Pat myself on the back everyone else here's an idiot" No, you dumbasses. Try again. And this time, actually TRY to get at the meaning of the lyrics. |

Although, on the "point of highset vision" part, I don't think he means he's "lived it up" I think he means he's tried to attain answers for himself and achieve some sort of wisdom. and how he feels he's accomplished that but now, it isn't enough for him to be wise. He needs to teach OTHERS what he has learned or otherwise, what will the point have been in achieving wisdom? Especially when it leaves you feeling that there's something that needs to be done about the ignorance of others? |

| Nevermore – Medicated Nation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it's more than just literal drugs. I think what he means to say is that most people in this country are overcome with anxieties, fears, insecurities, etc. and as a way of coping with those fears, or overcoming them; we rely on things like religion or social traditions to help us deal with them as crutch. And we become dependent on these traditions or religion to feel safe.We become so dependent on these "deified addictive rituals" that we become, well, addicted! And we can't feel safe or comfortable thinking or feeling in a way that doesn't fit in to these "rituals" | |

dtjesus, EXCELLENT interpretation! Blackened89, it may be obvious that WE are the only things that can destroy the planet, but that doesn't meant it is obvious HOW! He is saying that it is the things that we're doing and the behaviours that we need to change that are ruining the planet and our ability to co-exist in a meaningful, just way! He's saying that no matter how much he tries to help people change, noting seems to work and it's all pointless! It sounds kinda like the story of Socrates "Not even suicide, or my acid words, can teach you...anything useful" Socrates consumed Hemlock to prove a point and still, most of humanity is still ignorant, foolish and destructive. Most of humanity is and always will be ignorant and it is pointless trying to prevent them from destroying themselves as they are incapable (as a I think THAT is the message Warrel is trying to send. |

| Nevermore – Believe In Nothing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| rustedthoughts, you can be uncertain of God's existence! You can count it as a possibility, but still not be sure about anything! Maybe he has his doubts! (that doesn't mean he belives God doesn't exist, it just means he finds it questionable) Nonetheless, I don't think he's saying that he's a nihilist (if he was, believe me, there'd be no point in caring about anything, so why bother alchemizing something you don't care about into art?) and I don't think he's unsure about God's existence, either. I think he's trying to say he's not going to make assumptions about God and base his entire life around something he can't be sure about! So why do we make decisions about war and government and pass (sometimes harsh) moral judgment over something that we don't even know, but we just ASSUME and often pretend that we're knowing? He's afraid that leaning on religion as a crutch is going to be bad for him because of all the terrible things it can bring, especially when all the beliefs are based after assumption. | |

| White Zombie – Thunder Kiss '65 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I remember one dude I heard said how it sounded like an orgy: "another fool that gets down on it", "pig sweat a million miles", "can you dig the satisfaction?" ,"some like it hot and twist'n", and the Pussycat samples do sound like a porno "I never tyry anything i just DO IT! Wanna try (in other words, DO) me?" I dunno I just thought that was funny. I don't actually think that that's what it's about. But it seemed like it'd be funny to point out unintended sexual innuendo from the song! | |
| Soundgarden – Kickstand Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think It means both: He likes riding motorcycles cause he's a man with a big cock and motorcycles are fitting vehicles for real men with big cocks. | |
