I look down an entire page and find not one explanation for this song. Not a single, simple one. My take on it, even though the song blatently says this, is that a boyfriend is sore over a break-up but is also sick of how his girlfriend doesn't listen. |

I'm really quite tired of people just blathering on and on about how they love/hate the song/band. This is a site where we talk about what the song means to you personally, not talk about your opinion of the quality of the band/song. Don't like the song? Don't listen to it then. What I think this song is about is a person that is so in love with being in love that he wasn't paying attention to what he was getting into. He got too close and his heart was ravaged by the bad relationship. Slow hands is a form of torture perhaps. |

| Jamiroquai – Seven Days In Sunny June Lyrics | 18 years ago |

They were friends for a very long time (The narrator and the person he's singing to). They went on a vacation as friends. On this vacation the singer falls for the sing-ee. The sing-ee doesn't want to "ruin" what they have with a relationship. He tries to convince the sing-ee that he truly loves her and that he wants her to give him a chance. |

| The Decemberists – O Valencia! Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
You belong to the gang And you say you can’t break away But I’m here with my hands on my heart (Valencia is the Mob boss' daughter. The narrator/singer is in love with her) Our families can’t agree I’m your brother’s sworn enemy But I’ll shout out my love to the stars (Singer is part of another mob family, the mob boss' son is rivals with the narrator, the other mob boss' son.) So wait for the stone on your window, your window Wait by the car and we’ll go, we’ll go (He plans to take Valencia and run away where they can start a new life) When first we laid eyes I swore to no compromise Until I felt my caress on your skin (They fell in love at first sight) Well, how soon we were betrayed Your sister gave us away And your father came all unhinged (Valencia's sister found out about the narrator and Valencia's love and tells the mob boss, who obviously gets very angry) So wait for the stone on your window, your window Wait by the car and we’ll go, we’ll go Oh, Valencia With your blood still warm on the ground Valencia And I swear to the stars I’ll burn this whole city down (Chorus. Super quick foreshadowing) All I heard was a shout Of your brother calling me out And you ran like a fool to my side (They were making their escape but then they were caught.) Well the shot, it hit hard And your frame went limp in my arms And an oath of love was your dying cry (The brother shot at the narrator, but Valencia ran into the narrator and was shot. Dying in his arms, Valencia swears her love to him) So wait for the stone on your window, your window Wait by the car and we’ll, go we’ll go Oh, Valencia With your blood still warm on the ground Valencia And I’ll burn this whole city down Valencia With your blood getting cold on the ground Valencia And I swear to the stars I’ll burn this whole city down (The narrator just holding her dead body, mourning, the brother too stunned to do anything. The narrator swears he will take down the whole city to avenge his love.) |
