but they shoulda credited the people they borrowed from as well as themselves .. but when u think about it they were only together for a month when making the first album.. so obviously theres not going to be as much original material as they obviously had when they were the biggest band in the world.. for what they came up with in such a short time is amazing.. the mistake they made was not crediting partly dazed and confused to jake holmes and this song should have recognized the influences as well as the riff is quite similar to a song i heard but who cares .. they added their feel and the stones and beatles had a lot of covers on their first albums so why is everyone all over zeppelin .. the only thing was they didnt credit correctly but as a fan i dont care about financial details all i care is the music is phenomenal and what they were able to come up with so early in meeting eachother is amazing they made their mark thruout their career as a band the best band ever by far |

yea they never stole this song they originally credited as trad. arrangement jimmy page .. they had no idea joan baez covered it from anne bredon .. zepp's lyrics are more similar to baez's than bredon's but zeppelin added some new lyrics and made the song completely their own in the way it was arranged its in my top 5 zeppelin songs sometimes based on my mood my favorite the way zeppelin wanted to be.. soft at one point and then suddenly bam hard.. thats why they are so great is they were so versatile and took pride in it.. they could adjust to any style possible back then and were so talented all 4 of them they made it look easy |

wat?? the opening riff and the way the song moves along was largely influenced or taken from a song in greece and also the song "i saw your mommy " by Suicidal tendencies ... i downloaded the i saw your mommy and its almost identical i saw it on wikipedia and i listened to it and its almost the same..but i like puddle of mudd i have their major label debut and its got a bunch of real good songs 4 hit singles cant beat that much from a band today but they do sound alot like nirvana but they are pretty good i havent heard much of their stuff after the debut sold so well prob should just listen to their first album on a major label |

i looked up the lyrics for blind willie johnson and most of the lyrics ARE NOT copied by zeppelin .. the title is but its pretty generic if u ask me.. when i listen to this song to me its about how they had that supposed mytholigical deal with the devil so they could rock n' roll and i guess if u do that things can happen to u that are bad.. for example robert plant almost getting killed in a car accident along with his wife and kids.. and then this song was written after that period of time .. while in a wheel chair plant recorded this.. absolutely amazing how he did that.. soul isthe only lyric plant used other than the songs title i dont see that as a cover .. and then of course the other tragic shit that happened to the zepp were karac plants son dying and bonzo passing away.. thats what this is about to me |

well i shouldnt say it sucked cuz her voice sounds pretty good in it but it isnt the same as zeppelin's ..robert did borrow some of the lyrics but theres enough new lyrics from robert where its not a complete borrow or a harsher and unwarranted term "rip off"..and the music is alot different for the most part ..the chord progression might have been somewhat influenced by the acoustic beginning u hear but it is different than joan baez and im sure anne bredon's as well ..havent been able to hear that one yet.. but now there is a credit to anne bredon who must have written this song b4 joan baez but whoever has a writing credit now along with the band except for robert i believe since he still had a contract obligation with someone else the whole 1st album he didnt get any credits..but i bet page gave him some dough ..plant has stated he didnt make any money with the first album and tour.. by the second albumhe did of course.. |

i have grown to love this song.. the beginning guitar part is basically identical to jimmy page's old band the yardbirds song called "new york city blues".. pretty interesting imsure jimmy played that part .. search it on limewire almost identical and its neat how page was also influenced by his yardbirds days..but this is a great great song gets more intense as it goes on.. awesome |

there was a song originally written by memphis minnie called when the levee breaks and hewas a man i believe not a woman for the person who wrote earlier.. but plant only used the when the levee breaks and the chicago reference everything else is his.. i believe this song is one of zeppelins few songs that are about financial and money issues when the levee breaks its the poor people and all the rich people have made the poor people mad and they are now rioting i wish i could explain it better but id be here all day typing.. its also like the people praying are the rich people who plant says praying wont do u no good ..as in youve already upset the "storm" and its too late to change which is a reference to the poor people being tired of being pushed around// ive seen that opinion thrown around on other sites and i believe it to.... its not really so literal like a levee breaking theres much more to it .. what a classic and a drumbeat that hip hop has sampled constantly .. shows zeppelins influence throught out all music genres |

wat a brilliant song... this shows people how important JPJ was to Led Zeppelin.. he wasnt just another guy he is one of the most underrated musicians in the entire world zeppelin wouldnt have been zeppelin with out him he was a huge piece and is not given near the credit he deserves and that was because he was quiet or more quiet than page plant and bonzo..AND i think this is a perfect example of the mysticism surrounding LED ZEPPELIN ..i think it perfectly sums it up ..they rarely did interviews because the gay ass music reviewers didnt like their louder sound even though it was phenomenal and detested them for some stupid reason.. so they did most of their talking through their albums and live shows and thats more than enough when led zeppelin are who they are the greatest rock band in history.. this song really has mysticism in it its quite spooky and i love it!! |

aboldone ..i always thought that was it too but actually since willie dixon sued zeppelin over some lyrics to his song called" you need love" and zeppelin borrowed some of the lyrics and a backdoor man is a man that is the guy a woman who is married cheats with ..like when a womans husband was at war or w.e he would come inthru the back door if u will and fuck her .. and the "shake for me" was originally in that song but in my opinion alot of those lyrics are very generic so whether willie dixon should get credit for the song idk but plant said its fine and now willies influence is "happily paid for" haha but great song by THE MIGHTY ZEPPELIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is ranked as one of the top 100 songs ever by alot of places |
