| While I agree that it's about the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, I would like to extend that. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner "is often read as a Christian allegory." This makes sense in the context of the poem because of the "cross to bear" and the mentioning of the crucifix. By shake the albatross, I think he means get away from it, or elude it. | |
