I think that this song is about a part of human nature. When everything starts to unravel and fall apart around them, they turn to "Your class, your caste, your country, sect, your name or your tribe". It is human nature to want to seperate everything into groups and have people clearly defined. The only comfort for people in a world that is falling apart around them is to be able to seperate things into their little groups (classes, castes, countries, sects, family names, and tribes") and have everything where it belongs. "They're poring over Sanskrit under Ivy League moons While shadows lengthen in the sun Cast on a school of meditation built to soften the times And hold us at the center while the spiral unwinds" I think that this refers to how people turn to their religion when things fall apart. People choose to stick their heads in the sand "ignorance is bliss". They are seeking a way to ignore the fact that things aren't going very well at all. "They're poring over Sanskrit under Ivy League Moons while shadows lengthen in the sun." This is probably talking about how people turn to their religious studies as the times get darker ("While shadows lengthen in the sun"). "And I was off to old Dakota where a genocide sleeps In the black hills, the bad lands, the calloused east" And that is most likely just referring to the Native American tribes that were killed in the Dakotas when people started to settle the West in the late 1800s. That's just my two cents. :) I love this song and how the instruments make it sound a little "folksy". |

"How easy it is to deny the pain of someone else's suffering" That might just be my favorite lyric in the world. |

| Wonder Woman... hhow can you be scared of music? That's silly. I love COF and I'm 13... I guess you are just one of those Pop-obssed tweenyboppers... oh, well. Nobody forces you to listen to COF and nobody forces me to listen to Pop. It's really sad that they have no clue what music is... | |

| Goth people are not scary... they are people just like us! I used to think they were scary, too, but, you just have to remember that underneath the makeup and everything, they are just like us. And Goth music is some of the best! I | |

| HIM – Join Me In Death Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Anni, you must be one of the most stupid people I have EVER seen. Just because of their song titles, you can't say HIM is Satanic. It is not SATANISTS, idiot. I could actually care less if they were Satanic, because I listen to Satanic music, anyways. You are telling us to go deeper into the music, but it is quite obvious you don't, because you think they are Satanic. ANYWAYS, I think Join me In Death is not about suicide, as many people say. With HIM, "Death" does not have to mean physically dying. To them, death just means turning away from society and going to hide out with the one you love. Just escaping. So, Anni, you should not be the one calling people ignorant. And Ville is HOT. I don't care how much makeup he wears or how much he looks like a girl. Most Finns have more delicate, feminine features, anyways. Ville is GORGEOUS. | |
