Frank Turner – Love Ire & Song Lyrics 16 years ago
Awesome, thanks for the insight!

And so then judging by the rest of the verses, he believed in some kind of leftist political reform, but was disgusted by the poor attempts of the time:

It was worst when we turned to the kids on the left
And got let down by some poor excuse for protest
By idiot fucking hippies in 50 different factions
Who were locked in some kind of 60's battle reenactment

My next question is what does he mean by the "idiot fucking hippies" lyric? I mean the hippie movement was all about peace, love....and also the influence of drugs to say the least...so is he initially disgusted by the way they are going about protesting, only to revoke his anger toward the protests later in his life by saying "let's be 1905 but not 1917?" (assuming that what aforementioned about the socialist revolution is correct)

Does anyone know what Frank is really talking about in this song? It's great that we have these little interpretations of verses, but I'm just wondering what the whole of the song means. I get that it's about reliving the past, and being successful in that, but what exactly does "fighting and winning" mean?

The Phenomenauts – Giant Asteroid Lyrics 16 years ago
Now, this isn't necessarily an attack on religion. There's a dividing line when religion is fine and when it isn't. Resting everything, including lives, on faith when there is still possibly something that we can do is not fine. That's especially true when we should be investing ourselves into science and not religion in the case of a giant asteroid on a collision course with the world.

First verse has a couple of mistakes:

Giant Asteroid, coming in from outer space, BUT the people look the other way.
What were they looking at?

Anyways...
This song is about people putting the fate of the world to the decision of their faith. Rather than using science and other more logical things in life to stop the collision of a giant asteroid, they use faith to decide that some sort of god or higher power will ultimately rescue them. If it's not for their own rescue, it's for their own salvation.

Ex: (From the religious point of view) "Poor space alien, you're all damned cause you're not saved / That's an awful lot of them. Inferno filled up to the brim." Obviously there's superiority complex from believing they aren't damned to hell because they are saved through the practice of their religion. They won't have to face the so-called inferno.

Yes, it has something to do with some sort of mistaken and innocent man for a murderer, terrorist, etc. It's the sad truth of the world currently.

Terribly amazing song. Absolutely love the opening. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. The vocals are outstanding - both on Chris and Scott's part.

I'm listening to the album and it just keeps on getting better and better. When you think the song can't top the last, it does. It's amazing. I am a HUGE fan of TLE's older stuff, but this is just top notch.

Fantastic song. Does anyone else love the way Chris sings "we made up our minds" in the verse? hahaha.

The Living End – White Noise Lyrics 17 years ago
Yeah, you're probably right. It's "White Noise" specifically because he is talking to the girl over the phone.

"The operate comes on the line says hurry up man cause you ain't got much time."
