| Athlete – Twenty Four Hours Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I guess you're quite right here. When I first listened to the song I was thinking of my father who's quite old compared to other boys' fathers. I was kind of feeling like it's the song for our last moments together. Something like sitting in a hospital at his bed and knowing it will all end soon, but telling him that we still have twentyfour hours. The first two verses could be counted as evidences for my thesis. "People rushing left to right There's pretty faces left to right I'm just frozen staring into space" - rings a bell, could be the hospital scenery. Uhm, well, not really fitting into this explanation is the following line "And it's caught wide screen so we dont miss a thing", which I understand the way... that he's referring to our media society, to reality soaps covering every aspect of our lives. Everything's filmed, so we don't miss a thing. Humm. Anyone agreeing with any party of my interpretation? ;) |

| The Veils – Talk Down the Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| He's telling a girl, that she doesn't mean anything - any longer - to him. He loved her for quite a long time but now that she disappointed him (the reason is unsaid) he doesn't want her any longer. Of course he only says this - the line "i miss my girl" reveals that what he pretends (not needing her any longer) is not completly true. | |
| Travis – Good Feeling Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I really love this song, it's great. It reminds me of my first Travis concert, because the keyboard part was played by Claes, a swedish musician and Travis wanted the audience to point at him while he's playing. It was great fun. I love the way Fran sings this part with "In twenty years from now.." ;) All in all I think that this song is about a broken-up relationship. He wants to tell his ex-girlfriend that he's not missing her. He's happier now than he was before. "Anything you're giving isn't worth this good feeling" lets me think of it that way, but also the line "in twenty years from now I'll be the same and you'll be changing all the letters in your maiden name". He knows, that he lost her and that she'll marry someone else - of course he is still a bit disappointed but also angry about her breaking up with him, but in a sullen way. Maybe she wants him back... but he refuses. Don't know.. ;) |
