Pete Yorn – June Lyrics 18 years ago
When do most people graduate from high school? Graduations happen in june don't they, so it would make sense with what ibleachthesky wrote.

"pots and pans are indestructible, how do you respect your room" this line makes me think of someone taking blunt objects and destroying their rooms out of frustration. Destroying themselves in a way, being dissatisfied with themselves and their inability to have something because of their age.

Pete Yorn – Closet Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree with Chadm1010. I cranked up the volume to the point where my ears would explode but I heard the "plus beer". Though "fuck you" wouldn't necessarily be out of place.

I think the it doesn't matter whether "billie" is a boy or girl. The song in my view is meant to be ambigeous. It could be a straight guy that meets a gay guy and doesn't get a good first impression so he abuses him, in some way, making the guy hide back inside his closet.

Or of course there's the abusive relationship, could be a girl, or a child even. Abusive father trying to comfort his kid after beating him. Now the kids scared and wont come out of hiding from the closet.

i like the fact this song can take on several meanings at once. Connecting with everyone.

Pete Yorn – On Your Side Lyrics 18 years ago
Oh by the way it actually goes like this "and I listen, and I'm listening, Can you listen?, now I'm listening". It's a private conversation between two, there are no others involved. It's meant to be a private song. "they are listening" would not make sense. I would know, I've listened to this song at least once a day since 2002.

Pete Yorn – Sense Lyrics 18 years ago
If you take the song to be a "sixth sense" piece, I think that the words are being said by the main characters in the film. Things or actions being taken are being seen in a way that's different than what's intended. Giving a wrong impression to what's actually happening. Also recall in the movie the little boy tells the doctor to talk to his wife while she is sleeping "he's showing her things that she only dreamed up". By the way I read the lyrics on the cover of the cd and he says "you never change" not "changed". It's present tense. To say that no matter how hard people are trying no one's making an effort to change. Oh also if you listen to the end words "something wont forgive it all" it sounds like it's coming through a tape recorder. To act as the voice of the dead warning that things are still in the air, unfinished. This happening while he continues to sing "you never change" also saying that they (the dead) will never stop til they've done what they have to do.

Pete Yorn – On Your Side Lyrics 18 years ago
This is about two people with plenty of disagreements in their relationship. The reasons for them are still up in the air and there's a need for closure. A need for everything to be said that could not be said because the two wouldn't allow the other to speak. So there's the plea to undertand "I am on your side, it's taken me a long time" or to see it in the others view, which took one a long time to realise, and the plea to convince right after "I am on your side, on your side". With the end being that he'll listen until it's all been said and until he says everything. Then saying "I'm heading out tonight" while continuing to state that he's listening as if to say that as he's leaving if there's anything else before he's gone. I love this song, it's the first song I ever heard from him.

Natalie Imbruglia – Everything Goes Lyrics 18 years ago
I'll comment on it. It's her best song in my opinion. Gorgeous, i think beautiful beaches and bittersweet moments. I feel that it's about a friend, someone known, very special, perfect to her eyes, but her affection is not returned, though she can sense it in his eyes that he feels something too. But it only happens in moments, quickly there only to be gone just as quickly for something, or someone else.
A great deal of longing and desire for finality.

Natalie Imbruglia – Beauty On The Fire Lyrics 18 years ago
I have disccused this song with a friend of mine years ago and came to the conclusion that it was about drinking. Just about having the desire to cut lose and being free and getting lost in all the augmentation certain sensations that happen when you're "high". But also about being apprehensive since to drink yourself to that point means losing the beauty or grace that you usually try to "show" others. She could be lost forever...
