The Beautiful Girls – Sir, Your Fashion has the Cold Heart of a Killer Lyrics 17 years ago
The songs is clearly about Suicide, well someone who is suicidal at least.

As far as i can glean out of it, either he or his partner have left and hence he is now suicidal, allt he following lines are pretty much straight out

"see, since you've gone away i don't have strength in me to stay."

"and all our reasons they keep going somewhere.
the devil to one side of me seems to believe in killing me."

The Beautiful girls have a strong influence by the Police, and the Police were in reality a very dark band lyrically with subjects like suicide and stalking quite common. I think some of this is reflected in Matt McHugh's writing too.

But over all this is a great song, even though it is about someone suicidal it's still an outstanding piece of art

The Beautiful Girls – ...And We'll Dance On The Ashes Of What's Left Lyrics 18 years ago
Also meant to add that beds are burning is a song about saying sorry to the aborigines and making amends for the past.

That may also be a sub-theme of this song

This is a political and environmental song.

musicislife was right in a way, however it is not a specific statement. The two major themes of the song are global warming and freedom.

So to an extent it is about current political climate regarding war, hence the "The price for being free"

Global warming etc comes into play with the "And all along they've been saying nothing new to me.
Lately, seems right is wrong and wrong is everything we need maybe."

What follows convinces me more of that fact as this is a nice but blatant reference to midnight oil "And still the beds are burning, burning in our sleep" (see beds are burning)

The song sort of breaks out saying we/he will survive and dance ont he ashes of whats left, whether this be due to war or environmental issues

Pete Murray – Security Lyrics 18 years ago
Pretty obvious concept, he is basically singing about being a fairly free spirit, drifting from pay check to pay check and saving his money was never a concern, his own financial "security" has never been enough for him.

Now someone has come into his life that has given him enough to save and buy a house and have security, though he is still a bit doubtful because he feels he hasnt lived his life yet, he isnt sure if he is ready for the responsibility he has taken on.

Pete Murray – Smile Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is about his wedding and his wife. They had been together a long time and he is pretty much saying

"Believe your time has come today, go in your prime and know it's here to stay" saying it is her special day and thay he is marrying her in her prime and she will forever be like that to him.

For the most part the song is pretty easy to understand and most are fairly direct ideas, all about love and adoration for his wife and that day
