My take on the song: You and me were free Doing things together There was nothing I could see Wasn't black or white But now shades of grey are creeping me I see it when I sleep, alone Laughing all along We're having quite a time That they were playing our favourite song Boogie on, reggae woman Never lasted for so long Where did I go wrong? Please don't lead me on I just can't take a broken heart, no Please don't lead me on I just can't take another broken heart, no Last night I was off the rails Ten sheets to the wind I drank myself, it never fails Wouldn't see you again I guess I'll put myself to bed Rest my weary head for the night Played for a woman's heart She left me pretty quick She said I couldn't play the part She said I'd never stick I was accosted by a barber He said "Son I'll shave your beard" Please don't lead me on I just can't take a broken heart, no Please don't lead me on I just can't take a broken heart, no |

I came on here to see if anyone else was reminded of Spongebob, too. Especially the part about the nets (SB hunts jellyfish with a net). But I'm glad I came on to check out the comments because I probably wouldn't have figured out the real meaning on my own! |

| The Reindeer Section – You Are My Joy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| such a good and happy sounding song but it reminds me of a parent having to leave their child: "I wont be there to break your sweet heart but not being there might break your sweet heart" also the not being scared of hurtful words | |

I was one of those people that immediately thought it was about an event of bombing or evacuation, rather than it being about social life or the escape of something in your head. To me it just sounds like a city evacuation, with running from bombers, running through fields, etc. Especially "running from the underground", like Mobytoss said. Its like they're trying to get away from public and populated places, where a bomb would likely be sent. It seems like they went straight to the countryside. That's why think it's more about escaping from physical danger than escaping from life in general. |

I think it's more about a personal relationship than about drugs...just because it's a smith song doesn't mean its about drugs.. to me it's about an unrequited love or else the beginning of a very sweet relationship in which the second party doesn't know yet how much the other likes them |
