I think its hilarious.. I mean, if you really see the deeper meaning... if you knew their life before the CD's, and the life they grew up in. I mean, their influence was from what they played when they were a worship band for their dad. |

I've probably listened to this song a total of 50 or 60 times sinc its been out. and I looked at it, and realized a lot of this song, contains his life.
When you're drunk the true feelings can come out, and I think a lot of this song has to deal with Him and God.

A conversation with God, and the line "i've always been known to cross lines" could mean, I struggle with going in and out of a relationship with God. in one interview caleb mentioned that everday he wakes up and thanks god that he didn't die that night and go to hell. So, you know a part of them still misses that life, and a part doesn't. |

Kings used to be christian... Lol, its kinda funny because, Caleb goes to bed every night, and knows the way he lives his life is wrong, and he could die in his sleep and go to hell...
They all grew up in church this song is about, all the stuff they went through growing up. If you know about United Pentecostal or any Pentecostal church, they are pretty crazy, I was raised in it, and stuff, but like, you ahve to konw that Because of the Times, is labeled FROM an actual thing that happens in the south...
the second verse could be about their travels with their Father, they got their sound originally from playing in the band for their father, except matthew wasn't around I don't think at that time. |

Well, I would say that its about their commercialization because after this CD they had to revamp their image so it was more pleasing to the eyes and for more viewers... but a lot of this has to do with, that, Everybody wants to dow hat they want to do, and they want to do what everybody else wants to do. And that is to be popular and gain money and fame... |

Well, if you think that this whole thing is about the actual "Spiral Staircase" place then, you should realize that what Charles Manson used to do is mutter words in a sybolic gesture, and usually turn them into words that are kinda like Got to die or something like that... and then, you also have to consider, most of Kings of Leons songs, have nothing to do with other people, the first CD was based on things they wanted to do when the get popular, and then the second was things they did, and the third was more so on their life growing up... |
