I think one of the things that seperates MCS from a lot of these faceless pop-punk/emo acts that are cluttering the market space is that first they actually know how to write a great pop song, that is memorable and not annoying. Secondly, their influences seem to be a bit more varied. Can't exactly imagine Fall out boy covering Guided By Voices. All in all, a great cover. GBV's sound translates surprisingly well to MCS's, and in the if one wasn't familiar with the song's origins, he or she could easily be fooled into thinking it was an original. |

Yeah, masturbation. In the intro to this song on the Okie Noodling soundtrack, Wayne mentions that he originally imagined the film as being about a group of "masturbating teenagers" And I think that theme kind of goes with the song. It could also be about handfishing/noodling, of course. |

Yeah, I think the video supports knurd's idea. It shows a new kid who is constantly bullied and humilated. (Receives swirlies, gets his glasses broken, etc.) Throught it all he seems unaffected and happy though. The "Bulldog Skin" is something like a shield, a tough exterior. It could be anything that someone uses to get through life and overcome obstacles. |
