btw, did you guys know that Admass is not a name but it 's a reference to the people maligned by the media ? that proves the interpretations, claiming the media as centre of the poem. |

| In Flames – Your Bedtime Story Is Scaring Everyone Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Find time and play with innocence just like you ever would. I don't see you make any sense. I guess you deliver misery just like you should. 9 o' clock and you paint the skies grey. It's not your fault we 're the ones who betray. Just how can you say it with such ease? You want to take a stand or just please? Your bedtime story is scaring everyone. But you make me understand, the evil that men do. These are the lyrics as illustrated on the back of the official poster contained within the DVD/CD edition of Come Clarity i right now holding while also playing the cd on the stereo. Ofcourse everyone who gave a rendition of the intention of the writer has more or less spoken a good guess. Truth is, as described by the 3 minute industrial instrumental, it's late at night, tv's on mumbling the news, and a slow melody painting the writers thoughts after puting his child to sleep, preserving his/her innocence, and preventing the atrocity and the disastrous disaccord of the recent reality, on a global basis, from reaching his/her thoughts and emotions. It's, nevertheless, important to note, though, that the writer also focuses on the news presenter on the 2nd verse. he, even, directly asks "how can you say it with such ease?". It is unimaginable, ubsurd, and unheardof how one can speak this tragedies that disgrace man and human civilization, with such ease. It's implied, also, through the last two lines of verse 2, that egoism, and personal benefit, outbeat the will to serve the common good. And the verb "Please" is of vital significance for the proper interpretation of this message. The news presenter wants to simply "do her job", and avoids taking a stand, being hiding behind the so called - and frankly speaking, inexistent - "impartial reporter" "protocol". Consequently, she only pleases the higher authorities, the boss, the old fat rich prick sitting on the large comfy leather chair atop the Skyscraper.. the capital, those who force these events to take place. Another remarkable point to be discussed is that although the writer even witnesses this "scandal", which is actually no secret at all, makes no further comment, or confession of anger or disgust about it. Thing is, this "confession of anger and disgust" towards the present of humanity, and how the mass media, driven by the capital, malign the people, is included in the newest album of In Flames, "A sense of purpose". If you find it hard to comprehend it, by, either listening, or reading, the lyrics, do watch the music video for the first single, entitled "The Mirror's Truth". A revolution takes place in an industry.. not surprisingly at all.. in a tv channel, while a fat one sits on his comfy sofa watching what's shown on tv. (i believe) |

Ddadutta, i laughed alot with your 1st comment. especially.."What's happenin in the song is: The evil Nightshade is fucking with everybody, the hounds are drinkin everybody's blood.." gave me an icon of ..comic chaos.."is fucking with everybody.." hahaha..good one indeed. well i totally agree with Varulf..the song Is about the media..and the symbols are well illustrated by you sir. i couldn't explain better. Quite frankly i completely agree. by the way..some times bands, and especially in flames..use names and characters in their songs ; that doesn't necessarily mean that they 've been influenced by something, a source or something..nonetheless, it is possible. in this case i wouldn't say it is like this and thus that is why i agree with Varulf about the whole media concept. cheers |
