It seems to have several parallel meanings. First and most obvious is the hostage situation. Particularly the lines "Do just what I tell you and no one need get hurt" and "Don't ever try that again." and my personal favourite "Go on have it, you're just dying to try me" However it could easily be between Hostage and taker, Taker and negotiatior, a combination of those. The idea of the 2 people in the apartment with sexual tension is a possible notion. It may even blend into the hostage situation, perhaps a touch of stockholm syndrome. The stalker scenario is also very likely (I whent to a psychology convention on crime, Stalkers were covered in depth, and this songs relates well to it.) |

"Don't you see their bodies burning? Desolate and full of yearning, Dying of anticipation, Choking from intoxication," to me this refers to the fact that while america is obsessed with the war, it's people are becoming ill from pollution and forest fires are destroying hundreds, if not thousands of homes. "don't waste your time on coffins today" i believe it refers to the fact the bush administration thought it more fitting to bury the bodies of 9/11 victims in a LANDFILL, and now they refuse to pay for the bodies to be exumed for the families who want a proper burial, instead covering the rubbish dump and putting up a memorial |

I doubt the character Johnny is a homicidal maiac as it reads 'and i like to complain in VAIN' implying his voice and actions are never heard or registered, and unless this refers directly to JTHM, Johnny cannot be a murderer as murderers tend to be noticed, atleast by their victims |

I've always associated this song with the hills have eyes because of 'coming down the hills from behind' and 'We’ve been searching all along, But there’s no trace to be found. It's like they all have just vanished But I know they're around.' it relates to the hills have eyes because it's like the plot of the film, family ends up in the middle of nowhere, they start to go missing, they search for the others when the jupiter clan members attack them directly and butcher most of them. |

| I believe the 'life threatening life styles' and the hitman and the nun being lovers is connected to the noises on the track itself resembeling the cries of an infant, perhaps the hitman and the nun's relationship caused the conception of a child, which was the 'life threatening lifestyles' as it would mean the hitman would have to worry about a family and the nun would somehow have to explain a child to the mother superior | |

Johnny and Roger seem to be the same person with two seperat personalities, most probably going unaware of each other (e.g. Johnny goes to bed but wakes up the next morning as roger) this goes one for most of their life until A: one of the two personalities awakes during the control of the other, most probably through a mirror or an old photo or.. B: a Psychologist manages to discover the two different sides and elightens them both to the other's existance and offers to 'help them explain their mind' so to speak. this is how i've always thought of the story of this song, I've listened to the song dozens, if not hundreds of times, and this is always the imagery it conjurs up |

My theory is that it's once again a song about one of america's many wars over seas, 'she lost her head...' verse may be referring to a woman who's partner is either killed or missing in action. the bottled water may be referring to war for resources, among them spring water from specific regions. the 'someone kick me out of my mind' section may well be people denying what the military are doing, or perhaps a cover up being discovered, the 'why did you go there?' piece may be asking why the woman's partner was sent in the first place |
