after reading all of your opinions, i can make my own conclusion for now. i think the theme of punk's death predominates. in this song there're some parallels. 1977 is not only the year of punk's death but also the year of the blizzard and blizzard = death. because when it's winter and very cold the nature dies. so the song is about the death, winter, the blizzard of punk. the symbol of the heart and arrows can be interpreted as how He feels for this death, his heart is spit with arrows. but this is not the end... he's not agree with the death. there's a little hope and (like Blue_Goldilocks said: "there is an artery connecting to the heart called the Pumonary Artery that is the only artery in the body that carries unoxygenzied blood away from the heart (to the lungs). The spellings of the title of the song and this artery are very similar." i almost sure that this similarity is equality here) the bad blood is being carried away from his heart, things become better. the only thing that i hardly understand is the line with "alamo penetrated". i can only translate this word as the alamo tree. maybe this line symbolizes the raise of the tree...the new life. i think this suits rather good with the blizzard that = death. so we have: blizzard=death, new tree= birth,continuation for Him (as he is not agree "Fuck you"). Riding into oblivion is like playing what you like (aof has lots in common with punk, nobody disagrees i hope), the thing is not over for you. The melody makes me fall into oblivion, it sounds like sex if i can say like this, it's godlike. There's history but also emotions in this song. I'm dying to know the thoughts of the author of this song. thank you for interesting versions and sorry for any mistakes and interpretations, i'm a foreigner. |
