You seem like a enlightened individual. I mean, you do not take the bible literally or think the earth is a couple of thousand years old, so I don't see why we should be bickering. Unless you don't believe evolution. Then we should probably bicker just a little. It's just that I was quite taken aback at your strange view of atheists. Here's Wikipedia's definition of atheism: "Atheism, as a philosophical view, is the position that either affirms the nonexistence of gods or rejects theism. When defined more broadly, atheism is the absence of belief in deities, alternatively called nontheism. Although atheists are commonly assumed to be irreligious, some religions, such as Buddhism, have been characterized as atheistic because of their lack of belief in a personal god." This paragraph is also interesting: "As the strictest sense of positive atheism does not entail any specific beliefs outside of disbelief in God, atheists can hold any number of spiritual beliefs. "So, to an atheist, rape, plunder, and murder are no big deal. Shit happens, right?" That's a horrible thing to say. Just because you're an atheist, you have no morals? Where did you get that idea? Atheism does not equal nihilism. "Maynard is not an atheist...in fact most atheists I've met are incredibly ignorant and intolerant. Maynard is clearly intelligent & has a solid understanding of various religious views. He just cannot accept the Christian concept of "god"." Why can't a atheist be intelligent and "have a understanding of various religious views"? Just because you like Maynard, he can't be a atheist? Here's a quote from Maynard; "This sort of behavior is left to the psychotic, dogmatic, fundamentalist believers you see on your TV everyday letting off bombs and killing people in the name of God. Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. A non-functioning mind is clinically dead. Believe in nothing." Oh well, enough internet drama.
