Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek Lyrics 18 years ago
i believe this song is about INDUSTRIALIZATION... oily marks, like grease, appear on walls, in factories, of overuse. and also, its about the results and effects of industrial development. i imagine a native american tribe saying the frist few lines.. "where are we??" "what the hell is going on???" "this cant be happening" "all those years, THEY were here first."

It's about take over by white men and their need for industrial development. "The TAKE OVER, the sweeping insensitivity of this still life." the quiet, humble way they lived before is heartlessly discarded by the invaders.

Joshua Radin – What If You Lyrics 18 years ago
i think this song is about a woman and a man who are in love and know both in their hearts that they belong to each other and no one else. but something has happened, perhaps the girl feels overwhelmed or something, she is afraid of commitment, despite her heart telling her he is the one, she wants him to leave her. and because he loves her so much, he does, and he understands, and knows that she loves him no matter what, but doesn't want the heartbreak to be so sudden. so for now, he is saying, ok, i'll go, but in the morning, let me spend one last night with you, but i promise, by dawn, i will be gone and ur wish will be granted, and when the sun rises, i will be gone for good. the only line in the song that contradicts this opinion is the line "i could have treated you better, better than this" because it makes the story less devastating in that we see the guy wasn't the perfect prince charming we want him to be, the one that's singing this song to his lover. other than that, i think its the onset of the realization that their relationship is really ending, and they are easing into it.
