i think this is about the Jewish people who, in the time of Jesus being crucified, actually wanted him to be crucified even though he was their prophesied savior. then, after Jesus was put into the tomb, they denied that Jesus was their savior and till this day still await the son of god. what this song is saying, in my opinion, is face it you killed your savior and he is long gone "The one you hope for, the one you wait for Lies in a long forgotten tomb Condemned and murdered Revealed and tortured We have killed him, you and I" and because you have killed him and wont accept why he died "A deed that's just too great for us There is no atonement And no forgiveness there will be" |

take a look at all western politicians. they say they are Christians, then they go to war and kill thousands. this song is saying, in a nut shell, that those sorts of people are not truly Christians. you can go to church, learn the bible off by heart and preach all u like, but unless u truly believe what u say your religion means nothing.
