the name of the album on which this song can be found is called "this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about." so i'm gonna figure this song is just stuff he was thinking about when he was in ohio. i've lived in ohio (dayton) my whole life but i've done a lot of traveling. generally the sentiment i receive when people hear i'm from ohio is "i'm sorry." i've never quite understood this. it seems like the only people in history who have ever actually wanted to go to ohio are runaway slaves. but it's a pretty cool place. it really does have a little bit of everything. big cities, farms, whatever. columbus is especially cool. and i recently took a 10 hour road trip, and there are a lot of flat, boring midwestern states. actually, they're all like that. |

they aren't a christian band. "We've always conditioned our show universally, and (we're) just trying to speak to human beings; (we're) not really conditioning it down to Christians, and that's what the Christian music industry does. It's for a certain sect of people. I don't have anything against that--I'm one of them--but I don't want to taper it just for that," said (Paul) Meany (lead singer), here: http://www.tucsonweekly.com/gbase/Music/Content?oid=oid:77485 "For us, we just try to keep it simple. We're obviously a band; that's really all we ever wanted to be from the very beginning without catering to any particular genre or political or religious agenda or anything. We just want to make music with no barriers." Meany again as quoted by Boise Weekly from the band's wikipedia page. they are NOT a christian band and do not want to be labeled that way. just wanted to clarify that. i love this band. if you haven't seen them live look them up on youtube. amazing, especially darren king. |
