This song reminds me of Vixen's love songs back in the 80-90's. I think the lyrics are about a relationship where the girl is in love and the guy tries to believe that he is even though he isn't. He cares about her a lot but there is no passion in his feelings and now she is ready to give up because she knows she won't ever be able to make him love her. She realizes things are the way they are ("I can't change the color of my eyes") and you can't force somene to change his feelings. I would have loved an electric guitar solo for this song but it still rocks! |

I think that the video says it all. The mother kills her husband to stop him from abusing her (their?) daughter. She was able to suffer the abuse herself but she was not going to let her daughter go through that again. And I think the song is about her decision and its consequences: she saved her daughter but killed her father which the little girl is not going to forgive and killing him will always be a burden for the mother no matter what she does. I think that the message is that a mother/father can do anything for her/his child, even if that means they won't see or talk to each other again. I think that the mother thinks that taking all the blame and not mentioning her daughter the reasons why she killed him will save her a lot of pain. Taking all the blame is the sacrifice that the mother talks about. Well, at least that's what I understood! |
