| August Burns Red – Carpe Diem Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
"Eventually we were in the studio recording Leveler and the lyrics to "Carpe Diem" still weren’t finished. Dustin came to me and asked if he could take a shot at finishing them as he was really into the idea of two people having a conversation within the song. Dustin basically rewrote the entire song using my idea as a blueprint while writing from his own personal experience. He experienced exactly what this song is talking about when trying to convince his father that he wanted to go full time with a band. Dustin also wrote all the vocal patterns and sang quite a bit on the track. While it’s not a traditional ABR track, "Carpe Diem" really breaks up the album well and is a great breather in the middle. I have faith that this song will grow on listeners over time and possibly become a sleeper favorite off of Leveler." - JB |

| August Burns Red – Leveler Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| no, it's definitely directed towards a single person. | |
| August Burns Red – Carpe Diem Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| That's because the other person is Dustin, their bassist, singing | |
| As I Lay Dying – Upside Down Kingdom Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| beginning sounds alot like The God That Failed by Metallica. Was this intentional? | |
| August Burns Red – Thirty and Seven Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I asked the band if the song was named after a bible verse (chapter 30, verse 7) and Brent told me that it was. Not too sure which verse it is though, don't have the time to look through my bible and interpret them all | |
| August Burns Red – Vital Signs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| In my opinion, it's about how most churches are corrupted now a-days. How most people go to church to socialize and don't really care about what the message is about | |
| August Burns Red – The Escape Artist Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Open your closed mind Close your open mouth You're pushing more than you're pulling Every word that you say passes through my Ears before it even escapes your lips No one learns from someone they hate Your mouth is like a grenade Blowing everyone away How many have you pushed away And how many have you saved? Pick and choose based on a face, but it's all in the heart That carries weight Don't judge until you've taken it all in 'Cause in the end you'll pray to stay above the flames Open your closed mind And close your open mouth You're pushing more than you're pulling Every word that you say passes through my ears before it even escapes. That's how it should be |

The people who survive the sword will find favor in the desert (Jeremiah 31:2) I will build you up again, you will be rebuilt (Jeremiah 31:4) |

| August Burns Red – Crusades Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The song title is Crusades, not Crusader | |
| August Burns Red – The Blinding Light Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I found this in an interview right before the album was released: "A lot of people have problems with their faith, problem with their church. We wrote about how Christian homes a lot of times will shelter their kids and not let their kids experience things. A lot of parents are just, they are against everything and they are for nothing." That's from Brent who wrote a lot of the songs (probably this one too) and although he didn't specify a specific track, this is the only one that really goes with what he said. source: http://www.drivenfaroff.com/2007/05/15/august-burns-red-interview-may-9th-2007/ |

| August Burns Red – The Balance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's satire, mocking today's society saying that whenever somebody has different ideas or thinks differently, we give them a new drug that "sets them straight." An obvious exaggeration but still pretty funny and a scary thought of what might/could/is happening | |
| August Burns Red – The Eleventh Hour Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| One of the most straight forward songs... "The Eleventh Hour" is the final moments before the end (judgment day) and those who are strong (Christians) know what is happening and kneel but those who don't try to turn their back like they always have and "get what they were promised" by living such a life and end up "burning with regret, to the deepest, darkest depths of Hell." He's saying that you "can compromise what you know to be true" and believe what you want to "but in the end you'll see nothing stands between a man and his maker." | |
| August Burns Red – Up Against The Ropes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is obviously about a friend who chose to "live life while [he] can" instead of staying a strong christian and now he's "up against the ropes" about to suffer and Jake (singer) has no sympathy because he tried to tell his friend that with God, we can "survive through thick and thin" but his friend didn't listen and is now suffering, standing "in front of the jury, with no happy ending." - Could be referring to the judgment day and received a sentencing to hell. | |

Definately communism: "They don't need their own lives. The ones we have planned will work just fine." |

| Disturbed – Stricken Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song hits me really hard because I have met the perfect girl and she wants to be just friends, which I can't live with this and it's killing me inside just like the song and I can't live knowing I have no shot. | |
| Disturbed – Liberate Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song comes to me in a different way than David wanted. David grew up in a jewish family, and he is talking about waiting for the day when the messiah is coming, but as a christian, I know that when Jesus returns to earth he will return as a judge and punish those who live an "unclean" life and to me he is talking about getting rid of hatred because Jesus is coming back and if we are fighting, that is not good for us. | |
| Disturbed – Prayer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| In my opinion when David uses "Another dream that will never come true" and "Another nightmare about to come true," he is "preaching" to the world and when he uses "Let me enlighten you This is the way I pray," he is telling everyone that in hard times he turns to god, just like we should. | |
