i love how five years later, people are still pondering the translation and not the meaning behind the song... anyway! so venus, is this a reference to the roman goddess of love (their aphrodite rip off)? i'm not too familiar with mythology, but is there any myth about venus betraying any of the other gods? because this song would definitely fit into that. or it could just be metaphorical instead of literal, like orestes by a perfect circle |

first of all, i HAVE listened to Once, (in fact i've listened to all of their albums) and surprise surprise, i actually liked it. second of all, i love Angtoria, and any CoF songs that she's in. finally, nightwish isn't opera, its just metal with an operatic edge, so forgive tarja for not being up to scratch with her opera skills |

is it just me or doesn't this song just scream manson? think about it. just read the first line over again while keeping him in mind and you'll see it. and if it really is about a man with anorexia, it would still make sense to tie it to manson because he's said (in an interview on spin) that he really tries to watch his weight. |

for the record most people can't sing both alto vocals and soprano vocals, that's pretty hard to pull off. oh and tarja DID have a unique sound because there's not alot of metal vocalists that sounded like her, and that's the genre that she was placed in. plus i've said it before and i'll say it again, it was mistake to drop tarja no matter how bitchy she turned out to be. |
