| Affliction would probably have to be one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard. like teenage-death-girl, I found this to be my favorite song the very first time i played the album... however, kiss and control also hit me almost just as hard. maybe harder, but idk...hmmm... i do not feel that Davey is singing about a girl or lover, per say. i feel that he is singing more abt happiness and dreams running away from him. i think that when he is singing the line: "were you holding hands when my wrists bled" he is saying, basically, 'where were you when i needed you the most? (talking abt happiness and dreams) you were off with the other people in the world who have it easier and you couldn't even be with me when i was on the verge of ending this life...' ergo... the part of 'my wrists bled, meaning cutting himself. {not necessarily a SUICIDE attempt, but maybe just so he could feel something... instead of feeling numb all the time} | |

| ALL that being said... i truly love afi and have a deep passion for their music. i understand what the band is all abt and i support their every step. i KNOW that whatever album they come up with next will be AMAZING, SORROWFUL, SAD, MELANCHOLIC, HEARTWARMING, and INCREDIBLE... i am looking forward to it, because their last seven have been an amazing journey for me and a whole bunch of other afi fans out there who i KNOW love them as much as i do. =*). the AMAZING and PUTSTANDING 7 albums include: sing the sorrow, black sails in the sunset, the art of drowning, {decemberunderground}, answer that and stay fashionable, shut your mouth and open your eyes, and very proud of ya. | |

| number 1: AFI is a totally straight edge band, which in case you didnt know means that they completely abstain from DRUGS, CASUAL SEX, and ALCOHOL... they dont EVER sing abt drugs, either. soooo that rules hmc1010 out on that part of your song description... srry. =] the truth is... we all have guesses abt wat the song means, and some are very good guesses that make perfect sense, but, Davey Havok is a deep and complex person who TRULY has a gift... a gift of singing AND songwriting... and i highly doubt theres not more. the thing is, is that he doesnt really share what his share of the lyrics mean with ANYONE; that includes the BAND. so, in reality i dont think that he ever will, and i also think that none of us will ever REALLY know what they mean... we MIGHT be able to come close, but, what it all comes down to is that you would had to have been through Davey's life and seen into his past and know whats in his mind to TRULY know what it all means... i have a lot of guesses to what so many songs from all of their albums mean, but i think that i will never TRULY know FOR REAL what they mean unless i was to ever get it straight from the source... ='0 =) | |
