Way late on this, don't know if someone else has said it. One interpretation; it seems like a couple going their own ways, but going through the emotional struggle of it. Like when you feel you've had enough, or know you're just not good for each other, but you just can't let go. You love them, it's just not as simple. "Pack up" Moving out. "I'm straight" This is okay. I'm okay. "Enough" I'm done with this. Then comes the struggle. She wants them to say, "Wait, they don't love you like I love you." She's begging in her head for them to stop her or for them to say something that can fix everything. "Don't stray" Don't stop loving me. "My kind's your kind, I'll stay the same." I'm still what you want. I'll stay that way. Etc. Maps in this case meaning going the different directions in life. Or perhaps something we need her insight to know. The going on tour theory is very possible as well though. Pack up to leave. I'm okay enough(the tone of the song suggesting otherwise) with leaving. The lover trying to make her stay. Then her later promising she'll stay the same. Maps possibly keeping track where she is as to stay connected. A couple of possibility explanations. |

Hm.It sounds like those usual stories about the geek or the punk kid ending up with the popular chick who always get announced prom queen.Like how it says the girl is turning heads,but no one really notices the guy.And the chorus probably shows how the girl doesn't completely understand him,but he's trying his best to help her understand.Then how they're falling for eachother even with all these problems in the way. I fell in love with this song the first time I head it =) |
