| The Ting Tings – That's Not My Name Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I'd always thought when she said the 'darling' but she was addressing someone, as in "Are you calling me, darling?" as 'darling' can be used in that sort of patronising way. It makes sense to me, seeing as she's called so many different names, it's only natural to ask if it's her being called. I don't agree with the sleeping around theory, seeing as I'd imagine someone that whore-ish would at least earn a reputation and be remembered. Everyone knows the name of the local bike. =P |

From the look of things, pretty much every interpretation is already here. Quite unrelated, this song has always made me think of George Orwell's 1984, being subject to the horrors of room 101, trying desperately to make 2 + 2 equal 5, losing faith in the Party falling from power etc. You can draw a fair few parallels. |

I agree with societysdownfallx on the calling them gay etc. As for the song, translating the german makes SO much more sense than the english version, but it's a great song in either language. |

Wow, reading those comments, I never realised guys even GOT that emotional! I think it's one of those strange moments where you get such an insight to someone's life without ever having known them. Not sure about you, but I get them a lot. I'd never even heard this song until, well, just now, and it is indeed beautiful. I think I need to find somewhere to download it... |

I really don't see the point in posting comments about bands being crap on pages /dedicated to that band/. Seriously, do you have nothing better to do? Anyway, the meaning's obvious, the song's good and 'flamers' are sad :) |

xxImkexx, just because that is the english version of the song, doesn't mean it's a direct translation of the german one, which is what these lyrics are posted as. The german version, as usual, makes more sense than the english one, it seems! Makes me wish I'd not dropped german! |
