I don't think this is about Toby's personal life, I think it's about a long distance relationship that didn't work out because she couldn't sleep alone, she couldn't be without him there so he would be better off if they just ended...and then in the end he wants to take it all back and try to start over...but I don't know...just a thought |

Amazing song! Such honesty and reality that it makes up so it's lack of "bells and whistles"...in fact, this song is so much better with out all the added junk cuz it IS so real. Anyway, it's obviously about his girlfriend of two years that suddenly broke it off and he didn't know why and he was crushed cuz he had planned to marry her, and it ends with him looking to a brighter better future. The part "I would have offered my life, taken you home, made you my wife" KILLS me everytime I hear it, it's so heartfelt! And that's what makes this song amazing! |

Ok guys, just cuz they are a Christian band doesn't mean every song they do is about God...in fact, many of them may not be. I'm a Youth Pastor so it's not like I don't want them to be about God, it's just sometimes they aren't.....anyway, yea, I totally agree with isaiah, GREAT interp...although I would like to add that maybe they had a sexually impure relationship and then because of guilt, regret, other problems etc etc they broke up and now he is mad at her because she has moved on and does not feel any remorse for their impurity in that relationship. Just a thought.
Great song tho, the acoustic version makes me cry :) |

I love this song because it is totally different from any other Chirstian band. It's about a couple that has sex against their convictions, she gets pregnant and has an abortion in the second verse. I think the chorus "I'd take it back to have the chance, to see her laugh, to see her dance" the first one is about the girl who's innocence he took, then the second time is about the baby girl he'll never see. |
