i love the acoustic version of this song, actually i like all the auditions songs better acoustic, the warped tour acoustic set they had in san diego was amazingg. i this song as being about fighting in relationships. "Don't be so hard on yourself The name of the game is humilation And thanks for your admiration" makes me think of when people apologize for not being able to give the other person the best and when they fight the main goal is to humiliate the other person. "I never thought I'd say this The way that we play has such confrontation And guilt by association" the way they fight is to confront eachother on what the other does wrong which in turn makes the person feel guilty they can't give the person they are fighting with the world. "Don't think too hard about it You never thought I'd get this far Would get this far without you" this makes me think of when couples take breaks and you see how well the person you broke up with can go through life without you and you feel like you were holding them back because they're so much better without you but you shouldn't look that deep into because even if they are more successful that doesn't mean they're happier without you. "I can't, can't; I swear I can't let you," "It's all in your hands, so I'll do what I can So you can do what you have to."" this is like the frantic conversation that the couple has when they realize they need to be together after being apart. "Say you'll never ever, say you'll never ever Say you'll never let me go" after it all they just want the other person always there. eh, i don't know. |

love this song:) i think it's about a guy basically putting a lot of effort into making this girl fall for him and he's researching (websters) on what works to get girls and he's just mixed everything he knows girls fall for into himself and he knows "tonight will finally be the night" the girl will fall for him because he has concocted the perfect way to get her to like him. i think "join me in this waltz" kind of just means joing him in the motions you go through in life so they can go through life together because he is sick of going through it alone (dancing alone) |

Come on, you know me too well" and his conscience is saying you thought you could do whatever and i wouldn't ever get to you, and since you don't want a conscience should i leave you alone? you know i won't because it is my job to let you know when your wrong you know me to well" "They won't understand it What you've hidden from them And this is getting so much easier" the guy is saying if i own up to my mistake they won't understand and it's so much easier to forget about it and he trys to run away from his conscience and keep his secrets behind him. maybe i'm wrong? |

my favorite emery song. to me it's about a boy looking in on this girls life from a different perspective than she does. and he knows that she likes to party and it's fun for her but in her mind the party never stops, she never does anything serious and her life is just turning into a nonstop party and he wats to "tell her no" and that she has to stop what she's doing because he actually knows she could amount to so much more than a party girl. this girl is stealing and getting into drugs and he is saying if she could see from his perspective she would be ashamed of what she's gotten into. he's saying she has to stop now or she will keep spiraling down and she's just looking for "a place to hide" that is safe but she's experimenting with so much stuff that the world isn't so big anymore it's shrinking into her own little messed up world where only the drugs matter and nothing else. just my thoughts. |

i agree with everybody pretty much so far. the boy is setting it up perfectly, even unfairly "there are words we could use but should never say at all" but he did he obviously put alot of work into setting the mood and making her believe he is in love. i think the he's never gonna go away is just her saying it's going to happen eventually the pressures never going to leave. so she gives in and that's where the whole "you're so dummb" thing comes in. |

i also saw him as reffering to two girls when he talks about "you" he is talking about the girl he is really in love with and "she" is just a replacement(to make the girl he loves jealous?). "The moment, that’s where I kill the conversation Wrap this up with a lie that I’m enjoying every minute with myself And she could make hell feel just like home So I’m never leaving her alone" he is in what feels like hell to him but he is telling the girl he really loves that the new girl is so great and he'll never leave her. "But if your lightening lips aren’t mine then I don’t know the awkward strangers to my right But she’s crying" but if he can't have the one he really loves(and making her jealous isn't working) then he doesn't know/need the new girl(the awkward stranger to his right?) and he breaks it off with her and she is crying but he doesn't really even notice because he doesn't care about her. maybe that's completely stupid? that is just what i got out of it. |

soo catchy and pretty obvious as to the meaning. You put my picture in a box, It was the one inside your locket, What happened to the keys that used to jingle in your pocket, Your fingers say to come, But your eyes say I should stop it, If I regret all I've done, I would be trapped inside that locket, i could be wayy off but to me it means (kind of metaphorically) the girl took his picture out of her locket and put it in a box to store away forever and it's okay because if he looks back and thinks about it and regrets the mistakes he made he would still be stuck tied down to her. just my two centss. |

| i agree with what everyone else has said. i think that "we're going down in flames" is referring to the whole world not just the christian community going to hell. "finally fell asleep on the plane, to wake to see we're going down in flames" i interpreted this as we all just "fell asleep" and forgot about really truly worshiping god and what christianity really is and once everyone realizes it, it will be to late and everyone will be "going down in flames." and the ending is just a saying we should unite and stop being so critical towards non-believers and other christians alike and by uniting and stoping the torment you can save more people. | |
