I only read the first page, and then some of the posts on this one, but I wanted to make a comment. This song isn't condemning Marilyn Manson personally. It's saying that the message he portrays can really effect Christian people, so they should be wary of things that could sway them against God. I personally think that is a good point, because I grew up in a Christian home, then got swayed by Secular beliefs, and stopped believing in God for years. Its exactly like the song says. And mobscene, as a Christian, I don't think everything is evil, and just because I think something is bad, doesn't make me any different from you. I'm sure there are things you think are bad. Also, judging and condemning Christians just for their beliefs and trying to spread them isn't right either- then you are just doing exactly what you're saying Christians are doing(not that you specifically said that Christians shouldn't spread their beliefs(though you did imply it)- just wanted to get that out there). |

Ok, I realize I must not have much of a life to comment on an argument 5+ years old, but just like the many who have already posted, I have to get my opinion out. I am sorry that some people feel that Christians are pushing their beliefs down your throats. As an ex-atheist, I understand how you feel. I hated people for trying to tell me about God and Jesus. I thought most of them were close-minded, delusional idiots. But then one day my eyes were opened, and I saw the truth. When I finally excepted Christ as my Savior, I realized all those people were only doing it out of love, because they wanted me to go to heaven. Now, I understand I am called to spread the gospel, but only in a loving, kind way- and I am sorry if a Christian has ever been anything other than loving in their witness. Now, about God in music. 1) God created music- it should be used to glorify him, just as his creation, I should follow him. 2) Music is an expression of life, feelings, and beliefs, secular or Christian. If God is someone's life, makes them feel loved and grateful, and they believe in Jesus, then they should sing about God. Finally, when you tell a Christian not to spread their beliefs, or that they are stupid and God doesn't exist, you are only spreading you're own beliefs and doing exactly what you condemn- so think about it next time, and be fair. |

| I think this song is beautiful, and like most RK songs, I can totally relate. Especially to having doubts when you first give your life to God, because I'm still in that stage. But the song is all about how much God will always love you, no matter what you do, and thats why people should choose to live for Him. | |

to the whole debate about pleasing God- yes, we should do what makes God happy. I think some people had an issue with saying do what you FEEL is right, because humans are supposed to live by God's word, not feelings, which can be misleading because-well- we're human. Anyway, I find this song amusing, but it's not the best RK has done. But as a college kid myself, I get not stressing over it too much. |

I really love this song. It is about God, though, if you're not a Christian, I can see how you could interpret it differently. And the last two lines, "And all I was trying to do was save my own skin But so were You" really got to me, because everyone, at some point, tries to do something on their own, thinking they have it all figured out. I know I did- to the extreme of not even believing in God. Then eventually, a lot of people realize that they are wrong, and that all along God was there trying to help. |

| I would disagree(respectfully) that it isn't open to interpretation. I do believe that this is about Jesus, especially since it is how I feel about Him. And considering this is a Christian band, it was probably meant to be about God. However, I can also see how someone could compare this to a relationship with a guy/girl, a friendship, or a relationship with a family member. However, I don't see how(or believe) any earthly relationship could take ALL your cares, or protect you from ALL harm in this world. | |

| When I first heard this song, I did take it at its face value as a relationship. It could be a guy and girl thing, or family, or friends. Then, as I started listening to it more and more, I thought of it in terms of God, and I see it as sort of a conversation between God and a person. I think, if you're looking at it this way, that all but the last, slower part is God, then the last part is the person realizing its not really God's fault. Either way you take it, the song is awesome. It's my favorite song right now, and I am getting so addicted to Relient K's music. | |
